John Krasinski shared how his wife, Emily Blunt, responded when he was awarded the title of “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2024 by People magazine.
The actor, writer, and director, known for his work on the American adaptation of The Office, Jack Ryan, and A Quiet Place, received this honor during an eagerly awaited yearly occasion.
At the age of 45, Krasinski has been recognized as the most attractive man of the year, succeeding Patrick Dempsey, a former star of Grey’s Anatomy, who held the title in 2023. Interestingly, Krasinski was somewhat bewildered when he found out about this announcement.
In a conversation regarding the announcement, he mentioned that he felt a sudden loss of awareness, stating he had "no thoughts at all... except for the possibility that this might be a prank."
He went on to say, “I don’t usually wake up wondering, ‘Is today the day I’ll be named the Sexiest Man Alive?’ But somehow, that day arrived. You all have truly set a high standard for me.”
Krasinski also mentioned how his wife, actress Emily Blunt, reacted to the news. They've been married for 14 years and have two children together.
Krasinski mentioned that sharing the news with Blunt brought a great deal of happiness, and she was incredibly enthusiastic about it.
He mentioned that Blunt even joked about printing the cover and using it as wallpaper.
"Did we capture that on video? Because it seems like a solid agreement to me. My kids are going to enjoy that; it won't be strange at all."
Krasinski joked that instead of gaining favor at home from the honor, it might actually lead him to tackle even more chores around the house.

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where the news was initially announced, Krasinski mentioned that the first person he shared this information with, aside from his family, was Matt Damon.
The only person I accidentally let it slip to was on the day of the shoot when I attended Matt Damon’s birthday celebration. When I arrived – yes, I know, I'm name dropping, but bear with me – he was really enjoying his birthday, and I ended up getting there a bit late. He asked, "Hey, why are you late? What were you up to?" and I replied, "I was at the People’s Sexiest event!"
