American actor John Barrowman has disclosed the true reason behind his decision to leave Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins only 32 minutes into the program.

The judge from Dancing on Ice was spotted throwing up uncontrollably during the show's premiere episode on Sunday, September 22. The spin-off features celebrities tackling a tough series of survival challenges inspired by the Special Forces selection process.

Barrowman, 57, was accompanied by Pete Wicks, a participant from Strictly Come Dancing, and Rachel, the sister of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. In the premiere episode, they kicked off their intense winter combat training in the southern islands of New Zealand.

Barrowman expressed, "I just... this isn’t for me. I understand who I am and what I stand for; it’s simply not my thing."

Even though the TV star was given the option of medical assistance and access to a doctor, he informed his fellow competitors, "I'm done."

In an interview with The Sun, he shared the reasons behind his choice to leave.

"I'm neither a vegan nor a vegetarian, but they forced everyone to eat disgusting tofu," he started. "I can't imagine ever eating tofu, but when you're that hungry, you just end up consuming it."

After the meal, Barrowman, who experiences motion sickness, had to endure a two-hour drive to the location of the task.

"That's when I ended up throwing up all over the place, and the tofu came back up too," he recalled. "I realized, 'I shouldn't put my health at risk or make myself sick just to show something that doesn't really need to be demonstrated.'"

"I felt totally at ease with my true self."

"I consider myself a really content individual. Everyone has their own challenges and troubles, but I've recognized that I've made an error."

Fans were not impressed with the effort, as one commenter remarked, "It'll take me longer to finish my dinner than the time John Barrowman spent in the latest season of Celebrity SAS."

They commented, "It's important to understand he had his reasons and might have considered continuing before deciding to stop."

Some people were more encouraging, saying things like, “Great job, John! You made the effort, which is more than many do. It was clear you weren't feeling well. Nice work!”

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins is broadcast on Channel 4 every Sunday and Monday at 9 PM.
