Joe Root

Joe Root achieved a significant achievement in his Test career by reaching 12,000 runs during the match in Birmingham. He also surpassed Brian Lara's total run count in Test cricket.

Joe Root scored an impressive century at Edgbaston during the ICC World Test Championship match against West Indies on the second day. He also reached the milestone of 12,000 runs in Test cricket.

The England middle-order batsman achieved a milestone that only Alastair Cook had previously reached for their country.

Root achieved a significant milestone when he scored 60 runs in Birmingham. He helped rescue the team from a difficult situation along with Ben Stokes, after West Indies had managed to dismiss five of the home team's batsmen for only 54 runs.

He was eventually sent off the field with a score of 87, after Gudakesh Motie took the crucial wicket.

As Root batted, he moved higher on the list of all-time Test cricket run scorers, surpassing the famous Brian Lara.

Lara ended his Test cricket career with a total of 11953 runs. Root has now surpassed Lara's record, moving up to the seventh spot on the list of highest run-scorers in Test cricket history. He started the series in 10th place but has since overtaken former legends like Mahela Jayawardene and Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
