Kamala Harris says she has enough delegates to secure Democratic Party nomination

Vice president Kamala Harris has gathered sufficient support to become the Democratic Party's pick for president.

In a recent announcement, she expressed her pride in gaining widespread support to become the candidate for our party. She also mentioned her pride in California, her home state, for contributing to our campaign's success. She is excited to officially accept the nomination in the near future.

Based on the count by Associated Press, Ms. Harris had 2,214 delegates, far exceeding the minimum number required to secure the nomination in the initial round of voting.

The poll is not formal, because Democratic representatives can choose any candidate they want, and she won't be the official candidate until the roll call is finished. This could happen online or in person at the Democratic Party Convention in Chicago starting on August 19th.

Ms. Harris has been trying to get support from most of her delegates. If she gets chosen, she will have to choose a vice presidential candidate.

The governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, is being considered as a potential competitor for the Democratic nomination now that Mr. Biden has dropped out. She expressed her support for Ms. Harris in a post on X, stating that she fully backs the vice president.

Other possible Democratic candidates, like Governor Gavin Newsom of California and Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky, have also shown their support for Ms. Harris's campaign. Additionally, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has endorsed Ms. Harris.

Nevertheless, former President Barack Obama has not declared his preferred choice for the party's nominee.

Biden speaks out for the first time after dropping out of the race.

Joe Biden promised to work very hard in the remaining months of his presidency to support Ms. Harris as his potential successor.

The individual was talking on the phone with employees at the campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware. This was the first time he publicly spoke since he announced over the weekend that he would be dropping out of the 2024 White House race and supporting his vice president.

Ms. Harris also spoke to the workers in Delaware and criticized Republican Donald Trump.

The 59-year-old vice president is currently the only official Democratic candidate to run for president in the upcoming November election against 78-year-old Mr. Trump.

Mr. Biden stated that even though "I will not be running for office, I will still be very involved and active in supporting our cause".

I have six months remaining in my term as president, and I am committed to accomplishing as much as possible in that time. This includes work on both international relations and issues within our own country.

He expressed his support for Ms. Harris by saying, "I will do whatever Kamala asks of me or needs me to do... We are still battling together in this fight."

He criticized Mr. Trump, stating that he still poses a threat to the communities and the country.

Ms Harris then started off by expressing her affection for Joe while the president remained on the call.

She stated, "In the next 106 days, we will bring our argument directly to the people of America and emerge victorious."

Ms. Harris stated that Mr. Biden was able to generate countless job opportunities and successfully managed the COVID-19 crisis.

She also mentioned that Mr Biden supported democracy both in the United States and internationally.

Talking about her experience as a state prosecutor, she mentioned that she confronted offenders of various sorts.

She said: "I am familiar with the characteristics of Donald Trump, and I will confidently compare my achievements with his in this election."

Ms. Harris stated that one of the main objectives of her presidency will be to strengthen the middle class.

She promised to ban assault weapons and declared her support for the right to choose when it comes to reproduction.

On Monday, during a gathering for college athletes at the White House, Ms. Harris remarked that Mr. Biden's track record of achievements was unparalleled in recent times.

He is currently getting better from COVID, with Ms Harris stating that he is "doing a lot better".

The team stated that the 24-hour number was the highest ever achieved by any candidate in history.

The $81 million is on top of a previously collected "war chest" of nearly $250 million, gathered from the campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and joint fundraising committees.
