Louis Theroux on Stormzy wedding, Joan Collins and his three sons
Louis Theroux, who has spent many years globetrotting while recording remarkable documentaries on various serious issues, is now taking a break from it all. Instead, he will be focusing on his new BBC show, Louis Theroux Interviews, which is set to air its second season.
Louis Theroux, who was once known for interviewing individuals from controversial groups such as Scientologists and neo-Nazis, has taken a different approach in 2020. He has started a podcast called "Grounded with Louis Theroux" where he interviews celebrities during the pandemic lockdown. The podcast has been received positively, prompting Louis to transform it into a television interview series, with the first season featuring conversations with high-profile personalities like Dame Judi Dench and Stormzy.
In the second season, Louis managed to get Joan Collins, Raye, and Anthony Joshua to be his subjects. He reveals the effort put into obtaining exclusive entry to celebrities' lives.
Resolving to create a show that hits closer to home, he made this choice for various reasons, including a desire to be with his loved ones: his beloved spouse, Nancy Stranger, as well as their three kids- Frederick, Albert, and Walter.
Louis explained to HELLO! and other journalists that the new work arrangement made fewer requests and allowed him to stay home more often. As a person with a relatively young family and three rapidly growing boys, this was important to him. He believed that if he could minimize his time away from home, it would have a positive impact.
Louis decided to have some well-known celebrities as guests on his show, which resulted in some amazing line-ups. However, things didn't always go as planned. According to Louis, some stars had to back out of season two for different reasons. While he cannot disclose their identities, he did mention that some had valid reasons like struggling with mental health issues. Meanwhile, some reasons for dropping out appeared to be more unclear.

Occasionally, individuals may request editorial approval, but it is not always possible to fulfill this request. We cannot guarantee changes based on personal preferences. If this occurs, it changes the entire nature of the task.
Louis is always polite and considersate towards his subjects by showing them the episode before it is broadcasted. He allows for alterations, but only if they do not affect the film's credibility. An instance of this was when Joan Collins viewed her episode.
According to Louis, during the episode, he stated that she was the actress earning the most money during the Dynasty era. However, she corrected him by emphasizing that she was a TV actress, which Louis acknowledged as a good point.
In a different scenario, he talks about his TV show, When Louis Met, in which he granted a favor to Ann Widdicombe. She asked him to remove a particular scene from the show, in which her mother was caught reading one of her own poems. He explains that Ann felt the poem portrayed her mother in a negative light, and because her mother was elderly and unfamiliar with television, she believed it was inappropriate to have it included. As a result, they edited the scene out of the show.
The first season of Stormzy's documentary series may have had some real-world effects after he talked about his remorse in a past relationship, presumably referring to his ex-girlfriend, Maya Jama. When questioned whether he aided in the reconciliation between the couple after they validated their reunion in 2023, Louis responded by stating that he had no idea if he played a part but thought it was improbable. Louis cited Stormzy's album, "This is What I Mean," and stated that a good amount of the tracks were about lost love, which could be interpreted as being focused on Maya Jama. Therefore, he refused to accept any suggestions that he played any role, but he was happy to see two talented and beautiful people rekindle their romance.
Having said that, is he planning to attend the wedding? Louis replied, "I would surely attend if I received an invitation."
Louis is fascinated with conversing with stars, however, he has no intention of doing the show in the long run. He clarifies that it is not his forte and he doesn't see himself doing it permanently. Moreover, he still wants to explore topics that involve individuals who he may not be fond of.
