Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler is expected to make a ‘full recovery’ after suffering a ‘massive stroke’ this week.

The WWE Hall of Famer was rushed to hospital on Monday following what was reported to be a serious medical incident, and it later emerged he had undergone surgery

Now, a post to his official Twitter account has revealed the first photos of the wrestling legend as his recovers in hospital.

In the snaps, Lawler can be seen looking over some classic wrestling memorabilia with fellow Hall of Famer Jimmy Hart, while the pair also posed for a picture together.

Alongside the photos, his team wrote: ‘Update on Jerry: After suffering a massive Stroke Monday. He is now recovering in a Fort Myers, FL hospital.

‘His speech is limited, but with rehabilitation will regain a full recovery. He thanks everyone for the continued prayers and will be back in the near future.’

The latest update comes after Jim Ross – who forged one of the most iconic partnerships in WWE history with his fellow announcer thanks to their work together in the famed Attitude Era – revealed on Tuesday night he had spoken to Lawler after he was rushed to hospital after reportedly suffering a stroke on Monday.

Taking to Twitter, JR wrote ‘I spoke very briefly with ⁦@JerryLawler⁩ tonight. He’s obviously weak but I could understand his affected speech. Jerry’s prognosis is positive but he needs all our thoughts and prayers. #LoveYaKing’

As reported by Florida TV station Action News 5, the 73-year-old wrestler was taken ill at his home in Fort Myers, Florida and rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery.

Lawler has dealt with heart issues in the past and previously suffered a stroke in 2018, as well as suffering cardiac arrest while commentating live on air during an episode of WWE Raw in 2012, which nearly cost him his life.

Most recently, he was appeared as part of the panel for WWE’s Kickoff show before the Royal Rumble late last month, but it’s been some time since he was a regular fixture on the Raw commentary team.

On January 21, he appeared in a winning effort against the Beer City Bruiser for AML Wrestling in North Carolina.
