It's anticipated that Jeremy Corbyn, who previously headed the Labour party, will run for the position of independent representative in the upcoming general election on the 4th of July, specifically in the constituency of Islington North.

The Labour Party's governing body barred Mr. Corbyn, who has been the representative of the London constituency for almost four decades, from running for the party.

In 2020, he was removed from his position as a Labour MP due to his unsatisfactory reaction towards the investigation report on anti-Semitism within the party.

When Mr Corbyn made the announcement, he referred to it as a "political" maneuver.

The fact that he's choosing to compete against the Labour party in the upcoming election is causing trouble for Sir Keir Starmer, as it could worsen the already strained relationship between him and left-leaning members of his group.

The Labour party is in the process of picking a candidate to compete in a constituency that has historically been secure for them.

The possible members of Labour have been limited to only two options - Sem Moema, who is part of the London Assembly and Praful Nargund, who serves as an Islington councillor.

Reporter Paul Mason had put himself forward as a candidate, but he was not chosen in the end.

The process's victorious individual will be revealed on the first of June.

During the 2019 nationwide election, Mr. Corbyn maintained his position with an impressive lead of 26,000 votes.

The individual who is 74 years old, had concentrated most of his time as a member of Parliament being not part of the government or opposition leadership, but in 2015 was elected as the head of the Labour Party, since his campaign for leadership received great support from party followers.

After the massive loss of the Labour party to the Conservatives in the 2019 general election, he resigned as the leader. However, he is still a widely-liked personality within the Left community.
