Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck divorce after two years

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, two famous actors from Hollywood, have decided to end their marriage after being together for two years.

Lopez initiated the process of ending their marriage on Tuesday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, as evidenced by court records reviewed by the BBC.

The couple, known as Bennifer in the media, got married in Las Vegas in July 2022 and had a bigger wedding celebration in Georgia the next month.

Their love story started when they crossed paths on the 2003 film Gigli. They had intended to tie the knot that same year, but ultimately decided to end their relationship in early 2004.

Nearly twenty years later, they reignited their connection.

"Love is amazing. Love is gentle. And it seems that love is also enduring. Twenty years of endurance," Lopez commented in 2022 when discussing the Las Vegas wedding.

The BBC has reached out to their representatives to get a statement.

According to legal documents submitted to the court, either Lopez or her lawyer must inform Affleck about her request to end their marriage by providing him with a copy of the petition.

News sources say that Lopez, previously known as Affleck due to her legal name change, did not mention any specifics about a prenuptial agreement in her divorce filing.

According to a legal filing in the Superior Court of Los Angeles, both Lopez, aged 55, and Affleck, aged 52, are required to disclose their financial details. This includes information about their income, spending, assets, and liabilities.

The papers state that both parties must disclose any updates to their financial situation "until all financial matters in your case are settled".

The court said Lopez has to give financial information in 60 days, then Affleck has 60 days after that to do the same.

The document states that if either party does not report or update their financial information, they may face a penalty imposed by the court.

There has been much talk and rumors about their relationship. They supposedly listed their Beverly Hills home for sale at $65 million (£50 million) and were seen out without their wedding bands on.

Affleck, who has won a couple of Oscars, was formerly wed to actress Jennifer Garner. They first crossed paths on the set of the romantic movie Pearl Harbor back in 2001. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in 2015 after ten years, but they share three kids.

Lopez has been married a total of four times. She was first married to Ojani Noa, a Cuban-born waiter, from 1997 to 1998. Her second marriage was to her former back-up dancer, Cris Judd, from 2001 to 2003. Lopez then married singer Marc Anthony, with whom she had twins, from 2004 to 2014.

The famous singer and actress, also called J.Lo, was previously set to marry New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez.
