Jennifer Lawrence and her spouse Cooke Maroney are excited to announce that they are expecting a new member in their family.

On October 20, a spokesperson for the 34-year-old actor informed Vogue that she is expecting a baby. This announcement followed just a day after she was spotted showing off her baby bump during a dinner outing in Los Angeles.

The Independent has reached out to Lawrence's representatives for a response.

The star of No Hard Feelings and Maroney celebrated the arrival of their first child, a son named Cy, who is now 2 years old, in February 2022. The couple got married in October 2019 after having a private engagement.

Not long after becoming a mother for the first time, Lawrence opened up about her honest emotions regarding parenthood. In a discussion with Viola Davis for Variety's yearly "Actors on Actors" series in December 2022, she spoke about the guilt she experienced upon returning to her job after the birth of her baby.

“I filmed the movie just before my wedding, and then the pandemic hit,” she remembered, referring to her project, Causeway. “Fast forward two years, I'm expecting a baby, and we returned to finish it.”

The former star of The Hunger Games described beginning a family with her husband as “the most terrifying experience ever,” frequently wondering, “What if I mess things up? What if I’m not capable of handling it?”

"Every day as a mother, I can’t shake the feeling of inadequacy. I constantly worry," she said. "While I'm spending time with him, I question whether this is what he truly enjoys. Should we be outdoors? We're outside, but what if he's feeling cold? What if he catches a chill? Should we just stay inside instead? Am I doing enough? Is this stimulating his mind adequately?"

In response, Davis promptly reassured Lawrence, reminding her that all mothers have their moments of error.

In September 2022, Lawrence shared her thoughts with Vogue about her experience as a new mother. She mentioned that she named her son after the American artist Cy Twombly, who happens to be one of Maroney's favorite artists. She also admitted that discussing motherhood can be quite "intimidating."

"It really varies from person to person," she clarified back then. "If I say, 'It was incredible from the beginning,' some may think, 'It wasn’t incredible for me at the start,' and that could make them feel inadequate. Luckily, I have a lot of friends who were honest with me. They told me, 'It can be intimidating. You may not feel that instant connection, and you might not fall in love immediately.' Because of that, I felt ready to be understanding."

Lawrence's second pregnancy coincides with her work on two documentary films that reflect her political beliefs. One film, titled "Bread and Roses," focuses on the experiences of three women living under Taliban control in Afghanistan. The other, "Zurawski v Texas," tells the story of a group of women who filed a lawsuit against the state of Texas in 2023 after their rights to abortion were denied.

In a recent interview with People, she talked about her current projects and shared her support for democratic candidates Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the upcoming presidential election, emphasizing that “abortion is at stake.” Lawrence also expressed her admiration for the Vice President's policies, noting that she has advocated for laws aimed at safeguarding reproductive rights throughout the country, similar to what Roe v. Wade provided prior to its reversal in 2022.

"I'm supporting Kamala Harris because I believe she is a fantastic candidate, and I trust that she will fight to safeguard reproductive rights," said the Silver Linings Playbook actress. "The key issue here is to prevent anyone from entering the White House who intends to restrict access to abortion."
