In an interview with podcaster Joe Rogan, JD Vance stated that some teenagers are identifying as "trans" to improve their chances of being accepted into Ivy League universities.
In a three-hour episode of The Joe Rogan Experience that came out on Thursday, the Ohio senator and Republican vice presidential candidate asserted that some women "celebrate" their abortions. He also mentioned research indicating a link between "testosterone levels in young men" and "conservative political views."
Vance dedicated a lot of time to speaking out against transgender and nonbinary individuals. He also mentioned his belief that he and former President Donald Trump are probably appealing to what he called the "regular gay guy vote."
The newly elected senator suggested that some children from white families believe that identifying as transgender could improve their prospects of being accepted into Ivy League universities. However, there is no evidence to support the idea that being transgender positively affects admission odds at any specific school.
Vance noted that for white parents from middle or upper-middle-class backgrounds, if their main concern is getting their child into prestigious schools like Harvard or Yale, it's clear that this goal has become significantly more challenging for many kids in the upper-middle class.
He further stated, “However, the only way for those individuals to engage with the DEI system in this country is by identifying as transgender.”
DEI, which stands for diversity, equity, and inclusion, is a concept designed to ensure that everyone is treated fairly.
Trump recently made an appearance on Rogan's podcast, where he and Vance are working to engage younger male voters to participate in the elections through a series of podcast interviews.
In the interview, Vance asserted that some liberal women were openly celebrating their abortions, even going as far as to bake birthday cakes and share their experiences on social media.
"I doubt there are many individuals who are actually celebrating," Rogan countered.
"Many individuals feel that a significant problem is men deciding what women are allowed to do," the comedian shared with Vance. "One troubling factor is the situation in states like Texas, where there are strict limits on when you can have an abortion—around six weeks. Many believe that at that stage, it's often too early to know if someone is pregnant, leaving numerous women in precarious situations."
He mentioned, "There’s also the worry that they might travel to another state where abortion is allowed, yet they could still face legal action when they return home. That really troubles me."
Vance stated that he wasn't aware of anyone being arrested for going out of state to get an abortion.
“To be clear, I’m not in favor of people being arrested just for traveling around the country,” the senator stated.
At one point in the conversation, Vance posed a question to Rogan: “Have you come across the research that links testosterone levels in younger men to conservative political views?”
"Perhaps that’s why the Democrats prefer that everyone stay in poor health and gain weight—it supposedly makes us more liberal. If people aren’t as healthy, they seem to adopt more liberal political views,” he continued.
