Lawsuit alleges Jay-Z and Diddy raped 13-year-old girl

US rapper Jay-Z has responded to a lawsuit claiming that he and Sean "Diddy" Combs drugged and sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl at a party in 2000.

The unidentified person making the accusation claims she was attacked at a house party following the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in New York, and that a well-known female star was present during the incident.

In a recent statement, Jay-Z, whose actual name is Shawn Carter, described the lawsuit as a "attempt at blackmail."

Mr. Combs, who is currently in custody pending his trial after facing charges of sex-trafficking and other crimes in September, has refuted the most recent allegation.

The legal action was first initiated in October and was refiled on Sunday to include Mr. Carter as a defendant.

The BBC has reached out to Mr. Carter's attorney, Alex Spiro, and his PR representative for a response.

The lawsuit was submitted in accordance with New York's Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act by a lawyer from Texas, Tony Buzbee.

In recent months, Mr. Buzbee has launched multiple legal actions against Mr. Combs, alleging assault and rape. The hip-hop musician is scheduled to appear in court for a criminal trial on May 5.

Mr. Carter made a statement on social media, saying, "My attorney received a blackmail attempt, referred to as a demand letter, from someone claiming to be a lawyer named Tony Buzbee."

He understood that the seriousness of these accusations and the attention from the public would likely pressure me into reaching a settlement.

"No, that's not it at all! Instead, it just fueled my desire to reveal the truth about you and your deceitful ways to everyone. So, definitely not; I won’t give you a single cent!"

A spokesperson for Mr. Combs's legal team stated that this revised lawsuit is just the newest in a pattern of "outrageous attempts to grab headlines, aimed at getting money from celebrities who are worried about false rumors being circulated about them, similar to the falsehoods that have been directed at Mr. Combs."

The statement indicated that the legal proceedings would demonstrate Mr. Combs' innocence regarding all the accusations he faces. He is currently dealing with 30 additional lawsuits.

In the legal document submitted on Sunday, the person making the accusation, referred to as "Jane Doe," stated that back in 2000, when she was just 13 years old, a friend left her at the VMAs held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

As stated in the lawsuit, she went up to the limousine drivers waiting outside the venue in an attempt to enter the show.

According to the lawsuit, one of the drivers mentioned to her that he worked for Mr. Combs and that she was exactly what Diddy wanted.

That evening, the driver took her to a gathering at a white house, as stated in the legal documents.

According to the lawsuit, Jane Doe claims that upon her arrival at the party, she was requested to sign a paper that she thinks was a non-disclosure agreement.

The lawsuit claims she identified "numerous famous people" at the event and noticed that there was extensive drug use, such as cocaine.

According to the lawsuit, a waitress gave her a beverage that left her feeling lightheaded, prompting her to enter a room to rest.

Shortly after, the lawsuit states that Mr. Combs and Mr. Carter walked into the room accompanied by a well-known female star, referred to as Celebrity B. The plaintiff noted that they instantly recognized all three celebrities.

The lawsuit claims that Mr. Combs confronted her with a wild expression on his face, seized her, and exclaimed, "You're all set to have some fun!"

According to the lawsuit, Mr. Carter restrained her and assaulted her, followed by Mr. Combs doing the same, while Celebrity B looked on.

According to the legal documents, Jane Doe defended herself during the attack, and when Mr. Combs stepped back in shock, she was able to get away.

The legal action, which is asking for an undisclosed amount of compensation, claims that the individual bringing the lawsuit continues to experience post-traumatic stress disorder and depression due to the alleged assaults.

In his remarks, Mr. Carter, who is married to Beyoncé and has three kids with her, expressed, "The only sorrow I feel is for my family."

My wife and I need to have a serious conversation with our kids, especially since one of them is old enough that her friends will likely notice the news and start asking about what’s been said. We need to talk to them about the harshness and selfishness that some people show.
