Lawsuit alleges Jay-Z and Diddy raped 13-year-old girl
Jay-Z And Diddy Sued For 2000 Rape Of 13-Year-Old
US rapper Jay-Z has responded to a legal complaint claiming that, together with Sean "Diddy" Combs, he drugged and assaulted a 13-year-old girl at a party in 2000.
The unnamed accuser claims that she was attacked at a house party following the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in New York, and that a well-known female celebrity was present during the incident.
In a public statement, Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, referred to the lawsuit as an effort to extort him.
Mr. Combs, who is currently in prison awaiting his trial following charges of sex trafficking and other crimes in September, has refuted the most recent allegation against him.
The lawsuit was initially submitted in October and was refiled on Sunday to include Mr. Carter as a defendant.
The BBC has reached out to Mr. Carter's attorney, Alex Spiro, as well as his public relations representative for a response.
A Texas lawyer named Tony Buzbee initiated the lawsuit based on New York's law designed to protect victims of violence motivated by gender.
In recent months, Mr. Buzbee has initiated multiple legal actions against Mr. Combs, alleging assault and rape. The hip-hop musician is scheduled to go to trial for these criminal charges on May 5.
Mr. Carter shared a message on social media, saying, "My attorney received a threat of blackmail, referred to as a demand letter, from someone claiming to be a lawyer named Tony Buzbee."
He figured that the nature of these accusations and the attention from the public would pressure me into agreeing to a settlement.
"Absolutely not! Instead, it motivated me to reveal the truth about your deceitful ways in a very public manner. So no, I won't give you a single cent!"
A spokesperson for Mr. Combs's legal team commented that this revised lawsuit is just the newest in a series of "outrageous publicity tactics aimed at getting money from celebrities who are afraid of false information being circulated about them, much like the falsehoods that have been directed at Mr. Combs."
The statement claimed that the legal proceedings would demonstrate Mr. Combs' innocence regarding all the accusations made against him. He is currently dealing with 30 additional lawsuits.
In the legal document submitted on Sunday, the person making the accusation, referred to as "Jane Doe," stated that back in 2000, when she was 13 years old, a friend took her to the VMAs held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
According to the lawsuit, she went up to the limousine drivers waiting outside the event in an attempt to get into the show.
According to the lawsuit, one of the drivers informed her that he worked for Mr. Combs and mentioned that she "matched what Diddy was seeking."
Later that evening, the driver took her to a gathering at a white residence, as stated in the legal documents.
Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs captured together in the year 2000.
According to the lawsuit, Jane Doe claims that upon her arrival at the party, she was asked to sign a paper that she thinks was a confidentiality agreement.
The lawsuit claims that she identified several famous individuals at the gathering and noticed a significant amount of drug use, particularly cocaine.
According to the lawsuit, a waitress served her a drink that caused her to feel lightheaded, prompting her to step into a room to rest.
Shortly after, the lawsuit claims, Mr. Combs and Mr. Carter walked into the room accompanied by a well-known female celebrity, referred to as Celebrity B. The plaintiff states that they instantly recognized all three famous individuals.
The lawsuit claims that Mr. Combs approached her with a wild expression in his eyes, seized her, and exclaimed, "You’re all set to celebrate!"
According to the lawsuit, Mr. Carter restrained her and assaulted her, and then Mr. Combs did the same, while Celebrity B looked on.
According to the legal documents, Jane Doe resisted during the attack, and when Mr. Combs stepped back in shock, she managed to get away.
The lawsuit, which requests an undisclosed amount in damages, claims that the plaintiff continues to experience post-traumatic stress disorder and depression due to the alleged assaults.
In his remarks, Mr. Carter, who is married to Beyoncé and has three kids with her, expressed, "The only thing that truly breaks my heart is my family."
My wife and I need to talk to our kids, especially our daughter, who's old enough that her friends will likely notice the news and start asking about these allegations. We have to help them understand how unkind and selfish some people can be.
