Jay-Z accused of raping 13-year-old girl with Diddy after MTV VMAs in shock civil lawsuit

Jay-Z

A civil lawsuit filed on Sunday claims that Jay-Z and Sean 'Diddy' Combs sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl at a party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.

The person making the accusation, referred to as Jane Doe in the court papers examined by Dailymail.com, claims that the incident occurred at a gathering following the awards ceremony.

The lawsuit was first submitted in October in the Southern District of New York against Combs. It was refiled on Sunday, naming the rapper, who is 55 years old and goes by the real name Shawn Carter.

The woman who has made accusations against the rapper states that the incident happened during an afterparty that followed a show on September 7, 2000, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Dailymail.com has contacted Tony Buzbee, the attorney for Jay-Z's accuser, to get his thoughts on the matter.

On Sunday, Jay-Z released a detailed statement to DailyMail.com rejecting the allegations presented in the newly filed lawsuit. DailyMail.com has also contacted a representative for Beyoncé regarding this matter.

Jay-Z, aged 55, has been charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl, an allegation that involves Sean 'Diddy' Combs, also 55. This claim comes from a civil lawsuit that was submitted on Sunday and alleges that the incident took place at a party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. The two were seen together at a Grammy event in January 2020.

On Sunday, Jay-Z released an extensive statement refuting the allegations presented in the newly re-filed lawsuit.

"My attorney got a blackmail attempt in the form of a demand letter from someone claiming to be a lawyer named Tony Buzbee," he explained. "He seemed to think that the serious nature of these accusations and the attention they would attract would pressure me into settling."

"Actually, it did just the opposite! It made me want to reveal you as the fraud you are in a very public way. So no, I won’t give you a single cent!"

The artist went on to say, "These accusations are extremely serious, and I urge you to pursue a criminal complaint instead of a civil one! Anyone who would commit such an act against a child deserves to be punished severely, don't you think?"

If that were true, these supposed victims would truly be entitled to genuine justice. From what I've gathered about this lawyer, it appears they often engage in this kind of dramatic behavior!

Jay-Z, who shares three kids with Beyoncé after being married for 16 years, mentioned his family in his response.

"My only sadness comes from my family," Jay-Z stated. "My wife and I will need to talk to our children, especially since one of them is old enough that her friends will likely see the news and start asking about these allegations. We have to help them understand the harshness and selfishness of some people."

Jay-Z, the father of his 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy and seven-year-old twins Rumi and Sir, expressed his disappointment that his kids would have to learn about the accusations.

"I feel a deep sadness over yet another loss of innocence," he expressed. "It's not right for kids to face such experiences at such a young age. It's unjust to expect them to comprehend the unimaginable cruelty aimed at tearing apart families and crushing the human spirit."

Jay-Z was seen at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Diddy was spotted at an afterparty, where he was photographed that same night with his former girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez.

Diddy, seen at the event nearly 24 years ago, has been held in a New York City facility for close to three months while he prepares for his sex trafficking trial set for May.

The well-known rapper, famous for songs like "Empire State of Mind," "Big Pimpin'," and "Can I Get A…," directly targeted Buzbee, the attorney who has filed over 100 lawsuits against Combs.

"I’m not sure how you became such a contemptible person, Mr. Buzbee, but I've encountered individuals like you before," Jay-Z stated in his response. "I’m fully equipped to handle people like you. You say you're a marine? Marines are recognized for their bravery, but you display neither honor nor respect."

I empathize deeply with the genuine victims around the world who have to witness their real-life experiences being exploited for profit by someone like this opportunist in a tacky suit.

In his statement, Jay-Z remarked that Buzbee 'made a serious mistake in judgement' by lumping all celebrities together, pointing to his own journey and origins in New York City.

"I'm not from your environment," he said. "I'm just a young man who escaped the projects in Brooklyn. We don't engage in these kinds of activities."

"We adhere to a strong set of values and principles. Our priority is safeguarding children, while it appears that you are taking advantage of others for your own benefit."

Jay-Z concluded his remarks by stating, "Only your group of conspiracy theorists and pseudoscientists would buy into the ridiculous accusations you've made against me. If it weren’t for the serious nature of the concerns regarding children, these claims would be amusing. I'm eager to demonstrate just how different I truly am."

The announcement was first shared with Dailymail.com before being posted on the Instagram page of Jay-Z's Roc Nation label.

Houston attorney Tony Buzbee, who has represented clients in over 100 lawsuits against Combs, included Jay-Z in his filing on Sunday. The photo was taken in 2022.

The legal papers submitted against Jay-Z suggest that he was previously identified as 'Celebrity A' in an earlier court document, and also mention that he owns residences in New York City and Los Angeles.

In the lawsuit brought by Buzbee's firm, the person making the allegation claimed that the sexual assault took place during a house party after the VMAs.

According to the lawsuit, the person making the accusation wanted to go to the VMAs as part of a dream list and thought she would be able to get in.

When the show began, the person making the accusation mentioned that she went up to a few limousine drivers who were parked close by and tried to persuade them to let her into either the event or its afterparties.

In the lawsuit, the plaintiff alleged that a limousine driver claiming to work for Diddy mentioned that Combs had a preference for younger women and implied that she met his criteria.

The driver mentioned that he would come back to get the person making the accusation after he dropped Combs off at the party location.

The person making the accusation stated that after a 20-minute drive, she reached what she thought was a big white house with a gated U-shaped driveway. She mentioned that she was asked to sign a document that she now suspects was a non-disclosure agreement, though she never received a copy of it.

Once inside the house, the person making the accusation 'spotted several famous individuals' and 'tried to socialize among the guests' and chat with others.

The individual who filed the lawsuit stated that she observed significant use of marijuana and cocaine during her time inside.

The person making the accusation stated that she consumed a beverage that was a reddish-yellow blend, which had a flavor similar to orange juice, cranberry juice, and something bitter. She described feeling dizzy and faint, which prompted her to lie down.

In January 2001, Jay-Z was spotted having a conversation with Beyoncé along with her Destiny's Child group members, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.

Diddy and Jay-Z were seen together at an event in New York City in October 2004, which took place three years after the rumored incident.

In court filings, the woman claimed that she was lying down in what seemed to be an unoccupied bedroom when Combs, Jay-Z, and another female star known as "Celebrity B" came into the room.

The legal documents state that Combs approached the plaintiff in a menacing manner, with a wild look in his eyes, grabbed her, and exclaimed, "You’re all set to celebrate!"

In the lawsuit, the plaintiff claimed that Combs pushed her 'against a wall,' causing her to fall, and then 'took hold of her once more and tossed her onto the bed.'

The person making the accusation claimed that Jay-Z started undressing her as she became increasingly confused and restrained her while he assaulted her, with Combs and Celebrity B observing the incident.

After Carter was done, he moved back against the wall. Combs then approached and assaulted the Plaintiff while Carter and Celebrity B observed.

Legal documents reveal that during the 2000 incident, another famous person observed while Combs and Carter alternately attacked the minor. There were several other attendees at the after-party, but none intervened to put an end to the assault.

Carter has been alongside Combs throughout numerous situations mentioned here. It's important for both offenders to be held accountable for their actions.

Sunday's submission is the first instance in which Buzbee has identified a public figure, other than Combs, in court documents.

In a recent response to the legal documents, the well-known rapper, seen in a photo from August, directed his comments specifically at Buzbee, who has filed over 100 lawsuits against Combs.

Combs, currently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, has refuted all the accusations made against him. He is seen in New York City in 2018.

The legal papers submitted against Jay-Z reveal that he was previously identified as 'Celebrity A' in an earlier court case, and they mention that he owns residences in both New York City and Los Angeles.

Buzbee informed TMZ in a statement on Sunday evening that “Mr. Carter has previously claimed he wasn’t the one who took legal action against me and my law firm. He even submitted his baseless case using a fake name.”

What he doesn't mention in his latest statement is that my company sent a demand letter to his lawyer on behalf of someone who claims to be a victim, and that individual did not ask him for any money. Rather, she only requested a private mediation.

The lawyer concluded by stating, "After I sent the letter for her, Mr. Carter has not only taken legal action against me, but he has also attempted to intimidate and harass both me and this client. Instead of scaring us, his actions have had the opposite effect. She feels more confident now, and I’m really proud of her determination."

The timing of the incident seems to coincide with the moment when Jay-Z and Beyoncé's relationship started to deepen. Beyoncé revealed to Seventeen magazine that she first met Jay-Z when she was 18 years old, which falls between September 1999 and August 2000, as reported by People earlier.

In a 2013 interview with Oprah Winfrey on her OWN network, Beyoncé shared that she and her partner were friends for a year and a half before they started dating.

"We spent a year and a half talking on the phone, and that time really laid the groundwork for our relationship. It's crucial to have someone you genuinely enjoy being with, and having someone who is truthful is even more essential."

In November 2001, they appeared together on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine. Jay-Z shared with the magazine that they were "just starting to see each other romantically," and he remarked, "She's a delightful Southern girl, but I definitely had to be as cool as this."

Beyoncé and Jay-Z were spotted together earlier this year at the Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles.

Combs, currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, has refuted all the claims made against him.

In September, Combs was accused by federal authorities of sex trafficking, racketeering, and other crimes. He has made three unsuccessful attempts to be granted bail.

On Sunday evening, Combs' lawyers released a statement to TMZ, describing Buzbee's recent action as just one of many 'outrageous attempts at gaining attention.' They also restated their position regarding the case involving Combs.

"This revised complaint, along with the newly filed extortion case against Mr. Buzbee, reveals his ongoing legal attacks on Mr. Combs for what they truly are: blatant publicity grabs aimed at squeezing money from celebrities who are anxious about potential false accusations, much like the falsehoods that have been directed at Mr. Combs," the statement said.

It went on to state, "As his legal representatives have previously mentioned, Mr. Combs has complete trust in the facts and in the fairness of the legal system. When the case is heard in court, the truth will come to light: Mr. Combs has never engaged in sexual assault or trafficking, whether against men or women, adults or minors."
