Jay-Z accused in lawsuit of raping 13-year-old girl with ‘Diddy’ in 2000
The wealthy artist, who is married to the famous singer Beyonce, refutes serious accusations, labeling them as an attempt at extortion.
Jay-Z, the American rapper and music producer, is facing allegations in a civil lawsuit that he and hip-hop artist Sean “Diddy” Combs raped a 13-year-old girl in 2000, according to court records. The artist has firmly denied these accusations.
A revised legal complaint submitted on Sunday claims that Jay-Z, whose actual name is Shawn Carter, and Combs sexually assaulted a young woman at an afterparty after the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000.
"Another famous person observed as Combs and Carter alternated in attacking the underage individual. Although several others were at the after-party, they didn't intervene to prevent the assault," the complaint states.
"Carter has accompanied Combs during numerous situations mentioned here. It is essential that both offenders are held accountable for their actions."
Combs, widely recognized as Diddy, is currently incarcerated as he faces allegations related to sex trafficking and racketeering.
The revised lawsuit mentions that Jay-Z was previously referred to as “Celebrity A” in the allegations against Combs. It now claims that Carter has filed a "frivolous" countersuit.
The individual bringing the lawsuit is not named in the case.
Jay-Z responded to the attorney involved in the case by labeling him a “despicable person.”
"My attorney got a demand letter, which was essentially a blackmail attempt, from someone claiming to be a lawyer named Tony Buzbee. He seemed to think that the seriousness of these accusations and the media attention would pressure me into settling. On the contrary, it only strengthened my resolve to reveal the truth about you and your deceitful actions,” stated a post shared on X by Roc Nation, the label for Jay-Z.
"These accusations are incredibly serious, and I strongly encourage you to pursue a criminal complaint instead of a civil one. Anyone who would commit such an act against a child should be held accountable and imprisoned, don't you think? The victims absolutely deserve true justice in this situation."
Carter, 55, is a wealthy record producer and businessperson who began his career as a rapper. He is currently married to the famous singer Beyoncé.
Buzbee, the attorney involved in the case against Jay-Z, informed the AFP news agency, "The documents explain everything on their own. This is a grave issue that will be addressed in court."
Buzbee stated that the woman he represents, who claims to have been raped, "never asked for any money" from Jay-Z and emphasized that "all she wanted was a private mediation."
Federal prosecutors claim that Combs, who is 55 years old, engaged in sexual abuse of women and pressured them into participating in drug-influenced sex parties through intimidation and violence.
Combs has entered a not guilty plea for all accusations against him, and his criminal trial is set to start on May 5, 2025.
He is also dealing with a significant surge of lawsuits initiated by lawyers, including Texas attorney Buzbee. In October, Buzbee stated that over 100 individuals claiming to be victims were preparing to take legal action against him.
