The hunt for Jay Slater, who has been missing for over a week now after his last communication in Tenerife, continues.

The teenager, who is 19 years old and from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, went missing after trying to go back to his place of stay following the NRG festival, which happened on June 16th.

The apprentice bricklayer was staying at a flat in the northern part of the Spanish island with some friends he had met at the event. However, after he missed the bus the next morning, he phoned a friend to inform her that he was planning to trek the 10-hour journey back on foot.

Mr. Slater also mentioned to her that his phone battery was at only 1%, and he was completely lost without any clue about his whereabouts, desperately in need of a drink of water.

Earlier this week, police vehicles were spotted stationed at the entrance to a hiking trail in the Rural de Teno National Park, near the area where Mr. Slater's phone was last tracked.

Expert K-9 units have also been deployed to search for him, with a significant portion of the operation concentrated on a location close to a national park in the northwest region of Tenerife.

Mr Slater's dad has been asking for assistance from the people in Santiago del Teide, the town where the family traveled to following a rumored sighting in the area.

Warren Slater mentioned that someone "must be aware of something".

"I just want him to be located. That’s it," he included.
