Jay Slater, a 19-year-old individual from the county of Lancashire, had recently enjoyed a vacation on the island of Spain.

He informed his friend, Lucy, that he intended to trek back to his lodging after a night of revelry because he missed the bus. This expedition was projected to last approximately 11 hours on foot.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Lucy stated that during the phone conversation on Monday at approximately 8:15 in the morning, Mr. Slater mentioned that he was lost and required water. Additionally, he indicated that he only had a minimal 1% of phone battery left.

His mobile phone suddenly disconnected, and the last known location was in the Teno Rural Park - a famous mountainous spot for hikers.

According to Lucy, Mr Slater had received a ride back to their apartment from one of the individuals he had encountered during their night out. The adolescent was oblivious to the distance of the apartment because they had been travelling in a rental car.

"He's stranded in an isolated area. Jay probably assumed he could find his way back home," she stated.

However, when morning came, he embarked on a walking journey, relying on the maps on his mobile device and eventually finding himself in the midst of vast mountain ranges devoid of any surroundings.

There are reports that Mr Slater was last spotted sporting a white T-shirt coupled with shorts and trainers. Additionally, it is suspected that he had a black bag in his possession.

On Tuesday morning, Debbie, the mother, traveled by plane to Tenerife.

"I am extremely worried and that is why I have come here with my oldest son to do whatever we can to offer assistance," she stated to the Daily Mail.

She stated: "It appears that the authorities in this area are giving a lot of importance to this matter and putting forth their utmost efforts".
