British teen missing in Tenerife after telling friends he was lost with phone on 1%

There are reports of a British lad who is currently missing while having a vacation with his pals in Tenerife.

There has been no communication from Jay Slater, a 19-year-old young man from Oswaldtwistle located in Lancashire. The last time anyone heard from him was approximately at 8 in the morning on Monday.

The authorities in charge of foreign affairs have verified that they are assisting the relatives of a UK citizen who has been declared as disappeared in Spain.

Mr Slater went with his friend Lucy and another friend to a music festival on the Canary Island. However, instead of going back to their apartment, he decided to stay with acquaintances he met while on a night out.

Lucy got a phone call from Mr Slater on Monday morning, informing her that he was attempting to walk back to their lodging because he was unable to catch a bus and get home.

She mentioned that he was thirsty and required some water. Moreover, his phone's battery level was at 1% and he seemed to be unaware of his whereabouts. His last recorded position depicted him being located amidst mountains with no signs of civilization around.

The place was situated in the Teno Rural Park, also known as Teno National Park, which is a well-liked area for hiking in the northwestern part of the island.

According to Lucy, her friend went for a walk after a night out. He relied on his phone's Maps app for guidance but ended up in the midst of mountains without any civilization nearby.

According to the Manchester Evening News, she received a call from him around 8am in the morning with him stating that his phone had only 1% battery left. He also expressed that he was lost and in need of a drink, unsure of his whereabouts.

It has been reported that a communication has not been received from her till now and as per the information, Mr Slater's mother is traveling towards the island.

The schedule of activities was planned to consist of parties on the beach and boats, along with raves during the day and night at secret locations.

A representative from the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office has stated that they are giving aid to the relatives of a UK citizen who has been reported as missing in Spain. They are also communicating with the authorities in the area.
