Jasmine Paolini is an Italian tennis player who was born on January 4th, 1996, in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Italy. She started playing tennis at the age of five and turned professional in 2015. Paolini was introduced to tennis by her father who played and coached tennis as well. During her junior career, Paolini reached a career-high of world No. 13. In her professional career, Paolini has won six singles titles and eight doubles titles.

Paolini’s best Grand Slam result came in the 2021 Australian Open, where she reached the third round as a qualifier. She defeated the world No. 23 Markéta Vondroušová in the second round before losing to the eventual finalist, Jennifer Brady, in the third round. Paolini is known for her aggressive baseline play and has a powerful forehand. She is currently ranked world No. 97 in singles and No. 77 in doubles.

Paolini’s Early Career and Achievements

Paolini played her first professional tournament in 2015 at the age of 19. In 2016, she won her first professional singles title at the Solarino tournament in Italy and reached the final in five other tournaments. In 2018, Paolini won her first doubles title at the ITF tournament in Přerov, Czech Republic. In the same year, she won her first WTA 125K doubles title at the Bol Open, Croatia, partnering with Arantxa Rus.

Paolini’s breakthrough year came in 2019, where she won three singles titles and reached the final of two other tournaments. She won her first WTA Tour-level doubles title at the Palermo Open, Italy, partnering with fellow Italian, Elisabetta Cocciaretto. In 2020, Paolini continued her impressive form winning the singles and doubles titles at the WTA 125K tournament in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France. Her singles title win saw her reach a career-high singles ranking of world No. 92.
