He went to see a doctor after worried fans reached out to him, mentioning that they had heard a difference in his voice.

The 53-year-old stated, "The biopsy results have confirmed that I have Stage 1 Laryngeal Cancer."

"I have been diagnosed with cancer, but I refuse to let it define me!"

"The outlook is really good, and I'm looking forward to rejoining you in October."

He ended his post with: "Appreciate today, and when we meet again, I’ll have an exciting story to share... Jamie x".

Theakston's radio partner, Amanda Holden, shared a picture of them together on Instagram.

She shared: "Our amazing @jamie.theakston has been diagnosed with early-stage laryngeal cancer. His outlook is quite positive, and he has a fantastic support team by his side."

"Jamie, we care about you and miss you dearly! We can’t wait to see you again soon, along with @sophietheakstonjewellery, your amazing sons, us, and people all across the country standing by your side. You will overcome this!"

"I adore you completely."

Theakston has been a presenter at Heart radio for 19 years and has co-hosted the breakfast show with Holden for the past five years. Holden took over from Spice Girl Emma Bunton in the summer of 2019.

Bunton was one of the first to show her support, expressing, "I adore you completely," along with a heart emoji.

Carol Vorderman, a presenter and author, responded to Theakston's post by saying, "Wishing you all the best, Jamie. I'm so relieved your listeners noticed the change in your voice early on; it means you'll be back making everyone happy in no time."

TV and radio host Lisa Snowdon shared a heartfelt message, saying, "Sending you plenty of love, Jamie."

Presenter Kirsty Gallacher expressed, "Sending lots of love your way, Jamie, and wishing you a quick recovery."

Comedian Leigh Francis, who is more widely recognized as his character Keith Lemon, shared his thoughts by saying, "Wishing you magical energy and good vibes x."

Audience members noticed a shift.

At the beginning of this month, Theakston mentioned that his fans had observed a shift in his voice.

"Hey everyone, I know some of you have picked up on the fact that my voice hasn't been quite right lately. I appreciate your concern... I went and got it checked out," he wrote.

This weekend, doctors discovered a growth on my vocal cords, which they have now removed.

I really appreciate all the thoughtful messages. I should be bouncing back in no time.

Laryngeal cancer impacts the larynx, often referred to as the voice box, and statistics from the NHS indicate that it occurs more frequently in men than in women. A noticeable sign of this condition is a persistent hoarse voice lasting longer than three weeks.

Stage 1 indicates that the cancer has been detected at an early stage and has not dispersed to other parts of the body.

According to the NHS, laryngeal cancer can frequently be treated successfully with radiation therapy or surgical procedures to eliminate the cancerous cells, provided it is detected at an early stage.

Theakston gained recognition as the host of the well-loved Saturday morning kids' television program Live & Kicking, which he co-presented with Zoe Ball from 1996 to 1999.

He later became a co-host for Top Of The Pops and worked as a presenter on Radio 1. He also had a short stint in acting, featuring in the detective series Marple, the sketch comedy show Little Britain, and the sitcom My Family during the early 2000s.

In 2007, Theakston tied the knot with jewelry designer Sophie Siegle. They have two sons, Sidney, who is 16, and Kit, who is 14.

This is a developing news story, and additional information will be released soon.
