Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury

An intense boxing feud will reach its peak in Saudi Arabia tonight as Jake Paul and Tommy Fury clash at long last in a huge showdown at the Diriyah Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The stakes are high in a much-anticipated and lucrative main event as two bitter rivals compete for bragging rights and a WBC ranking in front of a massive global audience, having seen previous bouts fall through.

YouTube star Paul tests himself against a professional boxer for the first time after amassing an undefeated 6-0 record against fellow social media celebrities and former MMA champions, looking to gain the respect that he feels he is due in the fight game. For Fury, who is also unbeaten with eight wins against less-than-stellar opponents, he simply has to win if he has any designs on becoming a success in the sport, with the pressure piled on from all corners including his own family and brother Tyson.

An intriguing undercard in the Middle East holds plenty of interest, with Ilunga Makabu defending his WBC cruiserweight title against Badou Jack, who is looking to become a three-weight world champion. Follow Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury live below!

Makabu vs Jack in chief support act

Even if you’re not a huge fan of the main event, you should be suitably enticed by tonight’s chief support act.

Ilunga Makabu defends his WBC cruiserweight title against a fellow ageing warrior in Badou Jack.

It is Makabu’s first defence of the title he won against Michał Cieślak since last January, when he outpointed Thabiso Mchunu in Ohio.

He also saw off Olanrewaju Durodola in December 2020. British fight fans will best remember Makabu for being the man Tony Bellew beat to finally achieve his world title dreams at Goodison Park back in 2016.

Floyd Mayweather’s former protege Jack, now 39, is on a run of five straight wins since his pair of defeats by Jean Pascal and Marcus Browne in 2019.

He is trying to become a three-weight world champion after previously holding belts at light-heavyweight and super-middleweight.

The most rounds Fury has ever done in a single fight is six, having outpointed Daniel Bocianski in an unconvincing display on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s win over Dillian Whyte at Wembley last April.

He went the full distance in four-rounders before that with Anthony Taylor and Jordan Grant, as well as on his professional debut against Jevgenijs Andrejevs in Decemebr 2018.

Fury’s other bouts to date were early stoppages of Genadij Krajevskij, Przemyslaw Binienda and Callum Ide.

His physique is undeniable, but the 23-year-old has also insisted that his cardio will not be found wanting tonight.

Tonight’s main event is an eight-rounder fought at cruiserweight.

But does either man have the engine to go that deep?

Paul showed that he did against Anderson Silva in his last outing in October which went the distance, but a young and sprightly professional boxer in Fury is surely a different challenge to an ageing MMA icon.

Before that Paul had gone eight and six rounds with ex-UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, while he knocked out fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib and retired MMA man Ben Askren in the first round.

He needed two to finish off ex-basketball star Nate Robinson in another one-sided beatdown.

Drake to win $1.4m if Paul gets knockout

Jake Paul certainly has some big stars in his corner willing to splash the cash, doesn’t he?

Music superstar Drake has dwarfed Tyson Fury’s £100,000 bet on brother Tommy by putting down $400,000 on a Paul knockout.

If it happens, he stands to win more than $1.4million. Talk about big stakes! Though in truth that’s probably pocket change to him...

Mike Tyson backing Jake Paul knockout

Going back to predictions and the big stars at ringside for a moment, who does Iron Mike envisage winning tonight’s blockbuster main event?

"I’ve never seen Tommy Fury fight, I don’t think he’ll be able to beat Jake Paul,” Tyson told Boxing Social.

"Jake Paul is getting better and better as he fights, and I don’t know if they brought him over here to lose – we’re going to find out. Somebody is getting knocked out, somebody is going down. Someone’s zero has got to go."
