Declan Rice's Jack Grealish reminder speaks volumes as Man City star shines for England

Jack Grealish

Arsenal and England player Declan Rice has praised Manchester City forward Jack Grealish.

Since joining Pep Guardiola's team in 2021, the 29-year-old has experienced a tumultuous few years. He has struggled to match the performance levels he displayed at Aston Villa, which had secured him a high-paying transfer to the North West. As a result of these difficulties, he was surprisingly left out of Gareth Southgate's squad for last summer's European Championships in Germany.

England finished as runners-up after Spain claimed a 2-1 victory in Berlin, marking the end of Southgate's time as manager of the national team. Lee Carsley, the head coach of the Under-21 team, took over on an interim basis and quickly brought Grealish back into the squad, as the Manchester City forward continues to prove his worth.

Grealish scored for England during their 3-1 victory against Finland on Sunday evening, finishing off a well-coordinated play to put his team ahead. His recent displays have drawn positive attention from various sources, including both his teammates and rivals in the Premier League.

"Are you aware of just how talented Jack [Grealish] is? Truly, when you see him during practices and matches, it’s clear he has something truly exceptional as a footballer," Rice remarked.

I'm not just saying this because he’s one of my closest friends in the sport; his ability to handle the ball when under pressure, his skillful touches, and how he eases the pressure on the team are truly remarkable.

"He’s been scoring for England again, and he’s had a lot of playing time at Man City too. He seems to be in great form and very self-assured."

"I'm really excited for him. When Jack Grealish is content, smiling, and performing at his best, he brings a huge advantage to the England team, and I believe everyone recognizes that."
