Ian Wright Misses Being In Stadiums For Euro 2024

Ian Wright has expressed his annoyance with the placement of ITV's studio for Euro 2024.

The famous Arsenal player has been offering professional opinions during the tournament, alongside other well-known analysts like Gary Neville and Roy Keane.

Neither the BBC nor ITV's experts go to the games. Instead, Wright and his team present the matches from a studio balcony on the fourth floor of the Academy of Arts in Pariser Platz, Berlin.

Talking on the Stick to Football: The Overlap Special podcast, sponsored by Sky Bet, Wright expressed his annoyance about the situation to Gary Neville, Roy Keane, and Jill Scott.

He mentioned that watching the Turkey vs Georgia game from the studio doesn't give the same experience as being there in person.

Ian Wright has confessed that he longs for the excitement of being at games during Euro 2024.

ITV broadcasts the games from a studio in Berlin instead of going to the matches.

Wright mentioned that he doesn't feel the same way in their studio as he does when he's inside the stadium.

You might sense it when you're actually playing the game, that it's enjoyable. Since we're working on it from the studio, we're not experiencing that same feeling. I long for it.

Turkey's match against Georgia in the group stage was very entertaining. Turkey won with a score of 3-1, making it one of the highlights of the tournament.

The games at Euro 2024 have had an amazing vibe in the stadiums where they've been held so far, as the tournament is now in the quarter-finals.

The BBC's broadcasting studios are located right next to the Brandenburg Gate in the same area.

ITV is facing a situation similar to what the BBC experienced during the 2006 World Cup in Germany. As mentioned in Mail Sport, there has been some humor regarding being able to see their competitors' website over the shoulders of presenters Pougatch and Laura Woods. However, it is known that ITV does have emergency access to the BBC complex in case of extreme weather conditions.

Throughout his time as a pundit, Wright has often been seen providing commentary and analysis while attending matches in person at the stadiums.

"Mail Sport Backs England With New Campaign!"

This represents a shift for Wright, who is accustomed to going to games while working as a pundit for the BBC or ITV during live matches that are not part of the tournament.

At the conclusion of the latest season, Wright's time on Match of the Day ended.

Wright, who is 60 years old, chose to leave the show, where he first appeared in 1997, and became a frequent commentator in 2002.

Their studio's location also means that Wright will not be present for Spain's match against Germany today and the Netherlands vs Turkey game tomorrow.

Ian Wright was featured on Stick to Football: The Overlap Special, presented by Sky Bet.
