Users are also facing problems on Threads, a social media site, as well as on Facebook Messenger.

Problems began to emerge just before 5:50 PM, as reported by Downdetector, a site that monitors user feedback on disruptions in telecommunications and internet services.

About an hour after Meta's services experienced an outage, they seem to be gradually returning to normal for some users.

Meta announced: "We're aware that a technical problem is affecting some users' access to our apps."

"We’re making every effort to restore normal operations swiftly and sincerely apologize for any disruptions this may have caused."

According to the internet monitoring group NetBlocks on X, the outages are "not connected to internet interruptions or restrictions at the national level."

Some users report they are unable to use the app or website at all, preventing them from posting content or viewing comments. Meanwhile, others manage to access the site but experience slow performance.

User Debbie Turner mentioned, "I can't post comments or anything else. It looks like the entire Meta network is down—neither Instagram nor Facebook are functioning properly."

At 6:04 PM, close to 24,000 individuals in the UK experienced problems with Facebook, affecting both the app and the mobile and desktop websites. By 6:41 PM, that number had decreased to 10,200.

Instagram isn't doing much better either. Over 12,000 users reported experiencing issues around the same time.

The amount of users experiencing issues with WhatsApp declined. It dropped from slightly more than 9,000 at 5:55 PM to 4,500 by 6:10 PM.

The disruptions are having an impact on people all around the world, with problems being reported in countries like Germany, Argentina, Japan, and more.
