Users have mentioned experiencing disruptions on various social media platforms such as Reddit, Bluesky, and Venmo.
On the Reddit status page, the company reported an "ongoing issue" that occurred on November 20. They later confirmed the problem, replying to a user on X with, "we're addressing it."
Nearly 50,000 Reddit users indicated they were experiencing issues with the platform. Some visitors encountered the alert stating, "Upstream connect error or disconnect/reset before headers. Reset reason: connection failure."
The Reddit outage affected a large number of users, with Down Detector receiving reports from various cities in the US, such as Detroit, New York, Tampa, San Francisco, Seattle, and more.
Based on information from Reddit, the problem impacted reddit.com on both desktop and mobile web versions, as well as in the native mobile apps. It also affected how comments and spam were handled.
Meanwhile, Bluesky, which has recently gained a lot of new users as it positions itself as a rival to X, also experienced some difficulties. Approximately 2,200 users reported issues, and the platform indicated that "internal servers" were responsible for the disruptions.
The platform's membership is said to have increased by about 500 percent since the US elections on November 5.
Approximately 5,000 users of the payment and money-sharing application Venmo experienced problems.
The reason behind the extensive service interruptions, which started around 3 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, is still unclear.
