, as his replacement. This came after an October report from The New York Times stating that Khamenei was in "serious health."
The image depicts Khamenei in conversation with Ambassador Mojtaba Amani in his office. The caption, which is in Persian, reads:
Today at noon, Ayatollah Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, had a meeting with Mr. Mojtaba Amani, the long-serving ambassador of Iran to Lebanon, during his usual daily sessions. Amani recently sustained injuries from an explosion in Lebanon that resulted in at least 39 fatalities and nearly 3,000 injuries, caused by devices linked to the Iran-supported Hezbollah group. On October 5th, Khamenei delivered his first sermon in five years, soon after Iran launched 180 missiles targeting vital infrastructure in Israel. Speaking to a large audience at a mosque in Tehran, Khamenei characterized the missile attacks as a "public service" and voiced his support for Palestinian and Lebanese movements opposing Israel. While addressing the crowd with a weapon in hand, he expressed confidence that Israel would not prevail over Hamas or Hezbollah, stating, "Israel won't last long."
