IPL auction 2025: What is left in purse of each team after they splashed nearly Rs 467 crore on first day
After the futures of 84 players were determined and a staggering Rs 467.9 crore was spent by various teams on the first day of the IPL mega auction in Jeddah, bidders will gather once more on Monday to continue the competitive bidding for top players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Faf du Plessis, Washington Sundar, Marco Jansen, Deepak Chahar, Krunal Pandya, and more.
On the opening day of the IPL mega auction, India's wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant quickly broke Shreyas Iyer's record to become the most expensive player ever in the league, with a winning bid of ₹27 crore from the Lucknow Super Giants. As expected, teams were willing to go all out for top Indian talent during the auction. Iyer, who led the Kolkata Knight Riders to victory earlier this year, and Pant, a key figure for the Delhi Capitals, both capitalized on their decision to participate in the auction after having disagreements with their previous teams.
On the opening day of the two-day auction held at the Abadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, 84 players from a pool of 577 were showcased. From this group, 68 players were sold, and four were kept using the Right-to-Match card.
On Day 1, Punjab splurged a lot of money to acquire players, leaving them with Rs 22 crore. Currently, SRH has only Rs 5.5 crore remaining, while RCB leads the pack for Day 2 with a substantial budget of Rs 30.65 crore.
