Lionel Messi successfully scores a goal against LA Galaxy by shooting the ball past their goalkeeper, John McCarthy.

Inter Miami's Lionel Messi secured a remarkable last-minute point with his classy goal against LA Galaxy on Sunday.

After 75 minutes, Dejan Joveljic, the striker for Galaxy, scored the first goal, putting them in the lead. However, just a little later, Mark Delgado, who was playing as a midfielder, received a second yellow card and was sent off.

At 36 years of age, Messi exhibited his skill by collaborating intelligently with his ex-Barcelona teammate, Jordi Alba. He then slid to reach full stretch and successfully score against goalkeeper John McCarthy.

Last week, Miami emerged victorious against Real Salt Lake in their opening Major League Soccer game.

They are currently leading the Eastern Conference with four points, although they are the only team in the division to have competed twice. Meanwhile, their rivals, DC United, kicked off their season with a 3-1 victory over New England Revolution last Saturday.

Miami's head coach, Gerardo Martino, expressed that his team was outperformed during the first half of the game. He added that they could have potentially entered the dressing room with a goal disavantage.

"We conceded a goal during their counter-attack, however, we demonstrated strength and resolve in the following plays."

In California, Miami fielded a lineup consisting of four former Barcelona players. The team featured 2022 World Cup champion Messi, accompanied by Alba, Busquets, and Suarez from Spain.

Although Messi, from Argentina, did not have many opportunities to score, Busquets and Suarez didn't seem to play at their best. Nonetheless, Messi managed to make one chance count by scoring a late goal.

Galaxy were left with one player less on the field after Delgado was shown a red card in the 87th minute. Alba made a pass from behind the goal line and managed to find Messi inside the penalty area. The former Paris St-Germain striker scored a last-minute goal to tie the game.

In another location, Phil Neville's soccer team, the Portland Timbers, easily won 4-1 against the Colorado Rapids in their opening match for the new season.

Neville's initial triumph in MLS followed his dismissal from Inter Miami in June. This success came on Saturday. Neville, 47, was evidently pleased to have secured a win after his setback with his previous team.
