India vs South Africa 2nd T20, Gqeberha Weather Update: Rain plays spoilsport again at St. George’s Park
The weather has caused a delay in the second T20 cricket match between South Africa and India at St. George's Park in Gqeberha. The players have left the field and the ground workers are putting rain covers on the field. The situation is being monitored closely.
The second T20 match between India and South Africa at St. George's Park in Gqeberha was affected by rain, just as predicted.
Although St. George's Park was threatened by dark clouds before the toss, the game began on time. However, when India was batting at 180/7 and only three balls were left in the first innings, rain started to pour down, forcing the covers to be brought out.
India faced a great challenge when they lost two wickets consecutively. However, their captain Suryakumar Yadav played a remarkable innings of 56 runs off 36 balls and Rinku Singh remained unbeaten with 68 runs off 39 balls, which ignited a comeback for their team.
The inaugural T20I match at Kingsmead in Durban was cancelled before the coin toss due to a continuous drizzle during the day. As a result, the stadium's packed audience was disappointed and could not witness any cricketing action.
Ahead of the second game, the weather forecast had caused some concern about the upcoming match.
The predictions for the weather in Gqeberha showed that it was going to be cloudy, with a big possibility of rain showers which is around 70% chance. The expected temperature at the location was around 21 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the humidity levels were expected to be around 75%, and the wind was projected to be about 35 kmph.
The game was significant for India since the Men in Blue have just five games remaining in preparation for the T20 World Cup in June, leaving little time for the management to test players.
Nowadays, how well players perform in the Indian Premier League will be extremely significant when picking members for the Indian team who are heading to both the United States and the Caribbean.
The team selectors revealed a group of 17 players for the series, but it is improbable that each of them will have the chance to play in the last two matches.
The team for India includes Suryakumar Yadav as the captain, alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan as wicketkeeper, Jitesh Sharma as backup wicketkeeper, Ravindra Jadeja as vice-captain, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, and Deepak Chahar.
