The team who won the coin toss and chose to bat, started off slowly against England. However, the opening batsman Jaiswal managed to score his highest run total in a Test match, scoring 179 runs without being dismissed. By the end of the first day, the home team had scored 336 runs and had lost six wickets.

Bashir, who had bowled between two to one hundred times in the match, managed to take a very important wicket when he caught India's captain, Rohit Sharma, for just 14 runs. This happened in the 14th over and Ollie Pope was the player who caught the ball at leg-slip. Later, in the third session of the match, Bashir managed to dismiss Axar Patel, who had scored 27 runs.

Jaiswal demonstrated impressive endurance for India's cricket team, who were without some important batters including Ravindra Jajeda, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli. He hit the ball hard, achieving 17 fours and five sixes. His outstanding performance included hitting a six over long-on against England's Tom Hartley (1-74), which enabled him to achieve his first century at home and his second in six Tests.

Experienced bowler James Anderson (1-30) shone among England's bowling unit, along with Bashir, by displaying impeccable command to unsettle India's batsmen and reduce their scoring pace.

In the last part of the day's play, England managed to capture three wickets for a total of 111 runs, bringing their morale to a high point. Rehan Ahmed contributed to this victory by taking two of those wickets and catching India's KS Bharat at backward point, who had only scored 17 runs.

India is currently at 336 runs for 6 wickets after 93 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored an impressive 179 runs and is still not out. Shubman Gill has also contributed with 34 runs. James Anderson has taken 1 wicket, while Shoaib Bashir has taken 2 wickets for India.

Jaiswal Wows In India

After a cautious start by India, Shubman Gill (34) partnered with Jaiswal to boost their score by 49 runs. However, Anderson's impressive bowling skills caused Gill to lose his wicket, putting the home team at a score of 89-2 just before the lunch break.

Mark Wood has been replaced by Anderson, who has been consistently taking wickets in every Test match since debuting in 2003. He is currently playing in his 22nd uninterrupted year of Test cricket.

Jaiswal and Iyer had a partnership worth of 90 runs, where Jaiswal contributed most of the effort. However, the partnership was broken by Hartley when he bowled a delivery that was low, causing Iyer to produce an edge. Ben Foakes made an impressive catch behind the wicket to take the catch.

A new player from India called Rajat Patidar (32) had a great start to his first Test match. He hit two boundaries in a row by doing a reverse sweep of Joe Root (0-71) through gully and then making a cover drive. He ended up getting three boundaries during his time on the field.

Patidar and Jaiswal put up a strong performance in the middle-order against England's spin attack. They helped India recover from a score of 179-3 to a score of 249-3 after tea. During the second session, they scored 122 additional runs with only Iyer getting out in the 51st over.

Rehan, who bowls leg-spin, was introduced into the attack during the 60th over. He was able to deceive Patidar with a tricky delivery that bounced and hit the stumps after deflecting off the bat of the debutant who tried to play it late.

Jaiswal maintained his position as India's key player and established his dominance over England. He achieved this feat by hitting a well-executed shot towards deep cover off a half-volley delivery by Joe Root, which facilitated him in scoring his 150 runs in a grand manner during the 77th over.

Patel and Jaiswal kept Ben Stokes' team from scoring for 15 overs until the Indian left-arm spinner made a mistake and gave Bashir another wicket. He tried to hit the ball with a cut but instead hit it to Rehan who was positioned at backward point. This made the situation more frustrating for Ben Stokes' team.

In cricket, Bharat hit the ball to a position behind the batsman known as "backward point" where Rehan was standing. Then, Bashir caught the ball very close to the ground after it was hit by a player who spins the ball with their leg, called a leg-spinner. This happened during the last five minutes of the first day of the match, and it helped England end the day on a high note.

In the last over of the day, Ravichandran Ashwin (5no) hit a boundary by expertly hitting Rehan's googly towards the wide long-on fence for a four-run score.

"I am eager to give it my all, push through and continue until the very end for the benefit of my team. I shall endeavor to perform to my utmost ability tomorrow."
