Ben Stokes and his team made an impressive comeback in the game, despite being behind by 190 runs in the first innings. This was largely due to Ollie Pope's superb innings of 196. On the fourth day of the match, debutant Tom Hartley was instrumental in spinning the tourists to a win in the final over.

England emerged victorious from the game, causing India to feel heavily defeated. Stokes shared that this win was his most significant success since being appointed as the team's captain.

For the upcoming second Test match, a new player named Shoaib Bashir is seeking to leave a lasting impression. He has been selected for the team due to Jack Leach's absence caused by a haematoma injury that occurred while playing at Hyderabad.

India were hit hard with two losses as KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja were both deemed ineligible for the second Test due to injuries they suffered in the first.
