India vs England

On the second day of the third Test in Rajkot, England's Ben Duckett hit an impressive century in just 88 balls. This helped England reach a total of 207-2, in response to India's 445.

Duckett ended the day with an impressive score of 133 and managed to break the record for the quickest century by an English player in the sub-continent. This was also his third century in Test matches. Overall, the visitors played well and were able to trail India by a margin of 238 runs by the end of the day’s play.

In India's cricket match, their score from the previous day was increased by 119 points to a total of 326-5. This was accomplished with the help of new player Dhruv Jurel who scored 46 points, as well as Ravichandran Ashwin who scored 37 points. Together, they formed a strong eighth wicket partnership with a total of 77 points.

The day began with a good start for England as James Anderson (1-61) managed to get rid of Kuldeep Yadav (4) and Joe Root (1-70) took the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja (112), who had scored a century.

After Ashwin ran on the protected area of the pitch while batting in the first session, the hosts were given a penalty of five runs. As a result, the tourists began their first innings with a score of 5-0.

Ashwin became a member of the prestigious 500-wicket club in Tests. He achieved this feat in the second-fastest manner possible (after Muttiah Muralitharan) by catching Zak Crawley (who had scored 15 runs) at short fine leg after a top edge. This brought an end to England's 84-run opening partnership.

England Remains Faithful To Baseball

During the 102nd over of India's first innings, Ashwin stepped onto the protected area of the pitch while batting, which led to England being awarded five penalty runs at the start of their innings. It's worth noting that Jadeja had already received a warning about running in that same area on the previous day.

Duckett showed the true essence of the exhilarating game Bazball when he effortlessly hit a four by driving Mohammed Siraj's ball down the ground, achieving his century by the 26th over of the match. His remarkable innings included hitting 19 fours and one six.

The Indian cricket team wanted to take another wicket after Ashwin successfully removed Crawley. As a result, Rohit Sharma decided to try out the short-ball tactic towards the end of the game. This caused Siraj to hit Ollie Pope's helmet, which made him fall and ultimately get out two balls later.

At first, umpire Joel Wilson didn't give the out decision during the game. However, Rohit appealed with great enthusiasm and asked to review the decision. Upon reviewing, it was revealed that Pope was hit above the knee roll with the ball striking the leg-stump. This marked the end of a significant 93-run partnership for the second wicket.

In the ninth position, Root played carefully to make sure that England wouldn't lose any more wickets during the latter part of the game. He partnered with Duckett for an undefeated 25 runs, leaving the outcome of the game still uncertain.

Jurel's Debut Assists India's Respectable Score

Anderson achieved a significant milestone in just 15 minutes of day two's play, as he secured his 696th Test wicket by getting Yadav out with a nicked ball that was caught by Ben Foakes.

In the following over, Jadeja left the pitch without being able to add on to his century. He was caught and bowled by Root, leaving India with a score of 331-7.

England had a feeling that they may face a collapse in the morning upon the appearance of newcomer Jurel in the match. However, the 23-year-old managed to provide some spark to the lower-order line-up of the team, which caused annoyance and inconvenience for the opposing side.

Jurel, aged 46, and Ashwin, aged 37, worked together to form a 77-run partnership, allowing India to exceed a total score of 400. This highlighted England's blunder of twice dropping the debutant when he was at a score of 32. The first time he was dropped by Pope at mid-wicket and the second time by Ben Stokes at leg-slip. England paid the price for their mistakes.

The leg-spinner, Rehan Ahmed, was able to end the partnership by catching Ashwin at mid-on and then Jurel, who added 14 runs after England's errors, managed to edge behind to Foakes.

Mark Wood took the last few wickets of the opposing team by getting Jasprit Bumrah out lbw with a score of 26, while Mohammed Siraj was left stranded at the non-striker's end with only 3 runs.

Ashwin Honors Father With 500th Test Wicket

Following Ravi Ashwin's achievement of acquiring 500 Test wickets, he expressed his joy and gratitude towards those who supported him throughout his journey. Ashwin stated that this milestone was a result of the unwavering support of his family, teammates, coaches, and fans. He also mentioned the numerous challenges he faced along the way, but praised his perseverance and determination as the key factors for his success. Ashwin hopes to continue to play his best and represent his country in the future.

The voyage has been exceedingly protracted.

I want to honor my dad with my 500th wicket. He's been with me through every good and bad moment in my life. He's always been there to cheer me on and give me strength."

"We have achieved the milestone of taking 500 wickets and that is now a thing of the past. Currently, we have a game that could go either way."

Duckett's Woodwork: A Mesmerizing Sight

Mark Wood, the fast bowler from England, gave an interview on TNT Sports.

After all the hard work you've put in with the ball, you get to witness some exceptional batting skills.

India seemed uncertain about their fielding. It was truly remarkable to observe from Duckett's perspective. During practice sessions, we are attempting to encourage him to let go of at least one ball, but he rarely relinquishes his hold!"
