In today's match, John Smith has been awarded the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance. He managed to score two goals and set up one goal for his team. Moreover, he performed exceptionally well defensively, making important tackles and interceptions to keep the opposition at bay.
Maxwell and Matthew Wade hit a lot of boundaries towards the end of the game when they only had to score 43 runs from 12 balls.
Australia won the match by five wickets, scoring a total of 225 runs for the loss of five wickets, with an outstanding performance by Maxwell who scored 104 runs. Other top scorers for Australia were Head with 35 runs and Wade with 28 runs. Bishnoi was the most successful bowler for India with two wickets for 32 runs. India scored a total of 222 runs for the loss of three wickets, with Gaikwad playing exceptionally well and scoring 123 runs. Suryakumar and Tilak also made notable contributions, scoring 39 and 31 runs respectively.
Ruturaj Gaikwad delivered an incredible performance by scoring 123 runs without being dismissed, which helped India achieve a formidable score of 222 in Guwahati. However, Glenn Maxwell's effort was equally incredible as he managed to score 104 runs without losing his wicket, leaving the Indian team in shock as they witnessed Australia make an amazing comeback to save the T20I series with a score of 2-1.
During the game, Australia had managed to maintain a similar speed to India's asking rate, all thanks to a great performance from two players, Travis Head and Maxwell, who played with a lot of enthusiasm. As the game progressed, and it was Axar Patel's turn to bowl in the 19th over, followed by Prasidh's bowling in the 20th over, Matthew Wade and Maxwell excelled in the game, making the most of the dewy conditions by finding the boundary with ease. Even though the Australian team needed to score 43 runs in just twelve balls, and then 21 runs in six balls, and finally two runs in the last ball, the two players showed their skill. Maxwell hit the last four balls, scoring 6, 4, 4, 4 consecutively and sealed victory against India by drilling Prasidh Krishna's ball down the ground and ultimately silencing the home crowd.
Maxwell Dominates The Night
Maxwell joined the game at the score of 66 for 2 during the sixth over, following Avesh Khan's takedown of Travis Head's 35 runs, which were secured through a series of boundaries in just 18 balls. Maxwell quickly grew fond of Prasidh, hitting two sixes and a four within the eighth over, allowing him to easily reach 25 runs in 10. Unfortunately, due to Josh Inglis and Marcus Stoinis being dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi and Axar respectively, the Australian team's run rate was slowed down.
Despite the challenging bowling conditions, Maxwell's score of 88 off 39 was still a strong performance. He was likely aware of this fact, as he had given up a significant amount of runs during the last over of India's innings. Maxwell initiated the push towards the target by hitting six and four runs off of Avesh in the sixteenth over and then landing two consecutive sixes off of Arshdeep in the seventeenth over.
The 18th over from Prasidh was clean and well executed, which made the Australians feel the heat. However, Axar's 19th over was costly as Ishan Kishan's wicket-keeping mistake made the equation tense and caused the need for 21 runs off six deliveries. Wade and Maxwell dominated Prasidh, whose strategy was thrown off by India's slow over rate, requiring an additional fielder in the 30-yard circle. Prasidh attempted short, full, and wide deliveries multiple times throughout the over, but it didn't make much difference to Maxwell.
Gaikwad Escapes Behrendorff's Tight Grip
In the recent cricket game, Australia made the decision to bowl first and Jason Behrendroff made a remarkable comeback by pitching 17 dots in his four-over spell, resulting in a score of 1 for 12. Nevertheless, the remaining 16 overs from Australia were not as successful as they allowed 210 runs to pass through, with Aaron Hardie being the culprit for giving up 64 runs in only four overs. This ended up being one of the most expensive spell in T20Is for Australia.
During the 11th over of the game, Suryakumar Yadav scored 39 runs and Gaikwad, who was batting at a rate of one run per ball until that point, was at 22. India's score was 81 for 3 at this stage. Australia had an opportunity to restrict the run flow created by Suryakumar after the dismissals of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan, but Hardie and Tanveer Sangha gave Gaikwad a chance to accelerate the scoring with some poor bowling. Gaikwad capitalised on the short balls and confidently pulled them, while he dispatched the full deliveries in the area between long-on and deep extra-cover. This series of successful strokes allowed him to score his half-century in just 32 balls.
During the last three overs of the match, India accelerated their scoring by adding 67 more runs to their total. Gaikwad hit three sixes and a four off Hardie in the 18th over, but Nathan Ellis managed to limit the damage to 12 runs in the 19th. Nonetheless, when Wade decided to bowl Maxwell's offspin in the 20th, Gaikwad seized the opportunity and smashed three sixes and two fours to score 30 runs off the over. This boosted India's total to a formidable 222 runs. During this period, Gaikwad completed his century in just 52 balls and ended up with a remarkable score of 123 runs in just 57 balls.
