Tilak Varma achieved his first T20I century in the third game between India and South Africa held at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Wednesday.
The left-handed batsman reached his century in just 51 balls. His performance, featuring eight fours and seven sixes, contributed to India finishing with a score of 219 runs for the loss of 6 wickets after 20 overs.
The team in blue, sent in to bat first, faced a setback right away when Sanju Samson was out for a score of zero, thanks to Marco Jansen in the very first over.

Nonetheless, captain Suryakumar Yadav chose to elevate Tilak in the batting order, a decision that proved beneficial. The 22-year-old formed a remarkable partnership of 107 runs off 52 balls with fellow left-handed batsman Abhishek Sharma for the second wicket, helping India reach 100 runs in just 8.1 overs.
The Proteas made a comeback in the match by taking two quick wickets, dismissing Abhishek and Suryakumar within two overs. However, Tilak remained resilient and teamed up with Rinku Singh to put together a substantial 58-run partnership for the fifth wicket in just 30 balls. While Rinku supported him, it was Tilak who led the charge, scoring 45 runs during their partnership.
