Another rumored contestant for I’m a Celebrity 2024 has reportedly decided to withdraw from the show just a few weeks before it begins.
Just a week after another supposed celebrity was said to have dropped out of the show, reports have emerged that Ally McCoist, who was considered a strong contender to participate, will not be joining the cast in the jungle.
Former Rangers player McCoist, who represented Scotland and is now well-known for his commentary work, was among 11 rumored celebrities thought to have been signed for this year's season.
Fans were especially thrilled by his participation since he had withdrawn from the show in 2022.
Other famous personalities rumored to join the show are Reverend Richard Coles, Maura Higgins, and Coleen Rooney, who is said to be the highest-paid participant in the show's history.
Reports indicate that McCoist will be stepping away from the show, and the producers have found another sports personality to fill his spot.
As reported by The Mirror, Irish boxer Barry McGuigan is set to join the jungle.
According to a source, "Barry is a true sports icon and a fantastic choice to lead the way into the jungle. When he gained recognition in the 1980s as the WBA featherweight champion, he emerged as a unifying figure."
"He advocated for both Ireland and Great Britain, earning admiration and respect from people on both sides of the conflict. Few can claim such a feat."
The ITV reality series has been running since 2000, and its past champions include Tony Blackburn, Stacey Solomon, Jill Scott, and last year's winner, Sam Thompson.
In the past few years, I'm a Celebrity faced backlash for bringing in two contentious political figures: former health secretary Matt Hancock in 2022 and Nigel Farage in 2023. This choice seemed to result in a decline in viewer ratings.
At the moment, it appears that there aren’t any particularly controversial figures ready to step in as replacements for the bosses.
A representative from ITV commented on the rumored lineup, stating, "Any names being mentioned are merely guesses."
