Idles delivered a powerful performance at Glastonbury 2024, tackling political issues and taking aim at King Charles. The band also received a surprising endorsement from Banksy.

The band of post-punk rockers who are aware of social issues, fronted by Joe Talbot, played on the Other Stage on Friday (28 June) while Dua Lipa wowed the audience with her headline performance on the Pyramid Stage - even though there was a problem with the sound on the BBC broadcast.

During Dua Lipa's energetic performance of her popular songs, IDLES put on a lively show featuring their tracks "Colossus", "Gift Horse", and “Never Fight a Man with a Perm." Many are calling it one of the greatest performances in the festival's 52-year history.

During one of the earliest trending moments of the 2024 event, Talbot rallied the audience to chant against the king. Shortly after, a visual representation of young refugees in a small boat emerged within the crowd.

The prop, which showed kids in life jackets, was seen moving around while the audience enjoyed the band's pro-immigration song "Danny Nedelko". It has now been disclosed that the mysterious street artist Banksy provided the prop.

The day after the performance, it was verified that Banksy, known for his provocative political artwork, took advantage of the band's set to unveil a new piece - without the knowledge of IDLES.

In addition, the band demanded a stop to the fighting in Gaza and, to top off a terrible week for the Reform Party, labeled Nigel Farage as a "fascist."

"Wow, that's how you make a statement," one supporter commented, mentioning: "And that's how you absolutely rock Glastonbury. I'm confident that's the most impressive performance I've witnessed."

Another person called it "legendary. Historic. Monumental. Epic", wondering: "Is this the best performance at Glastonbury ever ??????”

Some mentioned they were amazed by the quality of the performance, while one individual posted on X/Twitter: "The IDLES show is fantastic. This band is on the rise and deserves to be the main stage headliner."

The main performers for this year are Coldplay and SZA, who will be playing on Saturday, June 29th and Sunday, June 30th.
