Actor Ian McKellen was admitted to the hospital following an accident during his performance in the play Player Kings in a theatre in London. He fell off stage during the show.

During a physical altercation scene, the performer, who is 85 years of age, encountered an accident wherein he slipped and descended from the Noël Coward theatre stage. The individual audibly expressed their anguish as the personnel promptly responded to the incident.

The performance was swiftly terminated and the spectators were requested to depart.

A fresh rendition of Shakespeare's plays Henry IV, Part One and Two called Player Kings has been showing at the theatre starting from April. In the production, Robert Icke takes on the role of adapting the plays, while Sir Ian McKellen stars as John Falstaff, with Richard Coyle and Toheeb Jimoh, who featured in Ted Lasso, among the cast.

A Player Kings representative expressed gratitude towards the viewers and public for their kind thoughts after Ian's accident during the recent performance of the show. The statement was given to The Independent.

After undergoing a scan, the outstanding team at the NHS have given us their word that Ian will recover completely and quickly. Ian himself is feeling optimistic and cheerful.

The show on Tuesday 18 June has been called off by the production team to give Ian some time to recuperate. Those who had purchased tickets for the cancelled show will be notified by their respective vendors at the earliest tomorrow.
