Tim Walter: Hull City sack head coach after just 18 games in charge with club sat in Championship relegation zone

Hull City

Hull City has dismissed head coach Tim Walter following only 18 matches at the helm.

On Tuesday night, Hull suffered a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday and have now gone nine games without a win, placing them in the relegation zone of the Championship.

The team ended the previous season in seventh place, just three points away from the playoff spots. They parted ways with manager Liam Rosenior in May and later hired Walter, who has led the team to three victories in 17 league matches so far and also experienced a loss in the Carabao Cup.

Both assistant head coaches, Julian Hubner and Filip Tapalovic, have departed from the club.

Andy Dawson, the first-team coach, has taken on the role of interim manager as the club carries out a comprehensive search for a permanent replacement.

Hull expressed gratitude, stating, "We appreciate the hard work of Tim, Julian, and Filip during their time at the MKM Stadium and wish them all the best in their future endeavors."

Dawson: Walter's Challenge Was Inevitable

Michael Dawson, who used to play for Hull City and is the brother of the acting manager Alan Dawson, shared his thoughts with Sky Sports News:

Consider Hull's position last season; they fell short of the play-offs by just three points, and we can't overlook the work that Liam Rosenior accomplished. If you examine their roster, you'll notice significant players like Jacob Greaves, Tyler Morton, Jaden Philogene, Fabio Carvalho, and Liam Delap are no longer there. It was definitely going to be a tough task for Walter to step in.

"Look at where they stand right now. I saw their game against Sheffield Wednesday, and it wasn't great. In the end, we all understand that in football, managers can be brought on board or let go. When the outcomes aren't good, there are consequences."

"My brother will be filling in temporarily for the match against Middlesborough. I had a conversation with him about it. It’s a tough situation for him; he’s been involved in this sport for a long time, so he understands that these things can occur."

"We're getting back to business and aiming to make improvements because it's really disheartening to see such a decline compared to where we were last year."
