Holly Willoughby to return as presenter of Dancing on Ice

Holly Willoughby

ITV declared that Holly Willoughby is going to come back and host Dancing On Ice.

Earlier in the year, Phillip Schofield left ITV after confessing to having an affair with a younger former colleague on This Morning. As a replacement, Stephen Mulhern has been chosen to take on the role.

Schofield and Willoughby had been co-hosting the ice skating competition since 2006.

Willoughby has not appeared on screens since she departed from This Morning in October, where she spent 14 years as a member of the hosting panel.

She left her position due to a reported threat of being kidnapped and killed. A man has been brought to court and accused of crimes related to these allegations, with a trial scheduled for early next year.

After Schofield left, the morning show's situation became even more problematic and there was a lot of guesswork about the status of Willoughby and Schofield's professional bond.

A private investigation supervised by KC discovered that Schofield's support of his younger lover definitely helped him advance in his profession at ITV. However, the younger colleague later achieved success based on his own merits.

The host of This Morning decided to resign after admitting that he fibbed about having a romantic relationship that was "imprudent but not against the law." Reports suggest that the higher-ups at ITV may have overlooked his involvement with a fellow staff member who worked as a runner on the program.

Jane Mulcahy KC conducted interviews with 48 individuals and discovered that the higher-ups at ITV and This Morning were unaware of Philip Schofield's affair until he released an official statement. One former junior employee admitted to being aware of the affair, but did not report it.

Willoughby and Mulhern are reuniting on Dancing On Ice, which is a significant event as it marks the 20th anniversary of their collaborative work on the children's program, Ministry Of Mayhem that aired on Saturday mornings.

Later on, the program was named as the Holly & Stephen's Saturday Showdown.

According to Katie Rawcliffe, who oversees the making of entertainment programs at ITV, Holly and Stephen are extremely popular presenters. This is the reason why the decision to bring them together again 20 years later to host Dancing On Ice is very exciting, and it marks the beginning of a promising year for the show.

In the year 2022, Mulhern temporarily co-hosted the skating competition on ITV together with Willoughby because Schofield was diagnosed with Covid-19.

Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo, and Oti Mabuse are all set to make a comeback to Dancing On Ice. The participating celebrities include Ricky Hatton, a former boxing world champion, Claire Sweeney, an actress from Coronation Street, Hannah Spearritt, a talented vocalist, Amber Davies, a West End celebrity, and Olympian Greg Rutherford.

Miles Nazaire, a well-known personality on television, will be participating in a competition alongside Lou Sanders who is a comedian and writer, actor Ricky Norwood, Adele Roberts who is a popular radio presenter, Ryan Thomas who is also an actor and finally Roxy Shahidi who is known for her role in the popular soap opera Emmerdale.

Stephen Lustig-Webb, a previous Gogglebox personality, was slated to appear but had to withdraw due to an injury he sustained while practicing ice skating which caused him to break his left ankle. Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, an Olympian, stepped in to replace him.

ITV will bring back Dancing On Ice in January.
