Helen Worth: A Brief Biography

As one of the longest-serving actresses in British soap opera history, Helen Worth has become a household name both on and off the screen. Born in 1951 in Southport, Lancashire, she first started acting as a child and went on to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

In 1974, she landed the role of Gail Potter in Coronation Street, a part which she has played on and off for over four decades. Her character has been at the centre of some of the soap's most dramatic storylines, including a tumultuous love life and two high-profile murders. As well as her soap work, Worth has appeared in a number of stage productions and TV dramas.

Life Off-Screen

Beyond her acting career, Worth is known for her work as a charity ambassador. She supports many charities popular among the public such as Children in Need and she is an ambassador of the NSPCC. In 2011, she was awarded an MBE for her services to drama and charity. Off-screen, Worth is a mother of one and enjoys spending time with her family and friends when not filming on set.

After nearly five decades in the business, Helen Worth has firmly cemented her place in British television history. Her enduring popularity and commitment to charitable causes have made her an icon both on and off the screen.
