Heartstopper season 3: Why isn't Olivia Colman in the new series?
It's officially Heartstopper season (is that even a term? We're declaring it as such) since the third season premiered on Netflix yesterday (October 3rd). We reunite with Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke) as they explore their relationship and begin to contemplate their future. We're thrilled to have the whole cast back, but one important actor was noticeably absent. So, what happened to Olivia Colman in season three?
From the very first season, Olivia has portrayed Nick's devoted mother, Sarah. One of the standout moments beloved by fans occurs when Nick confides in his mom about being bisexual, and she responds with nothing but love and support. This scene is not only heartwarming but also one of the most significant moments from the initial two seasons.
Sadly, there won't be any more scenes showcasing the mother-son relationship in the third season, as Olivia was absent for the entire run. So, what kept her from coming back? Here's the information you need.
Why Didn't Olivia Colman Appear In Heartstopper S3?
So, there isn't a major dramatic explanation for Olivia's absence in the third season. It was simply a matter of her schedule not aligning.
During a conversation with Forbes, Olivia shared that she found it challenging to coordinate her timetable to accommodate both Heartstopper and another project.
"I wasn't able to accomplish number three. I just couldn't make it work. I feel really bad about that," she shared. "It feels like I was involved in something truly extraordinary—one of the most beautiful experiences of my life."
When asked by Forbes about the possibility of coming back for a potential fourth season or a spin-off series, Olivia expressed that she would be interested in returning.
"Alright! I can manage that. If it's scheduled ahead of time, I should be able to make it happen!" she shared with the magazine.
As a representative of all Heartstopper enthusiasts, it's crucial that we see Olivia return to our screens.
Season three of Heartstopper is now streaming on Netflix.
