If there was any doubts over whether Hearts or Aberdeen were in fact the third best side in the country right now, then it was removed emphatically by five star Hearts at Tynecastle.

Michael Beale might want to revise his opinion after they blew Aberdeen away in Gorgie, going in 4-0 up at the break having not played particularly well, before adding a fifth in the second half.

Jim Goodwin could only watch on in horror as his team collapsed. Josh Ginnelly opened the scoring from close range after 15 minutes. It was scrappy, but the Jambos' second more than made up for that.

Toby Sibbick sent a searching crossfield ball to Michael Smith, who took a wonderful first touch before an even better second resulted in the ball nestling in the far corner.

Aberdeen were masters of their own downfall for the third. Liam Scales used his arm to divert a Robert Snodgrass corner away from Kye Rowles. A VAR check saw Willie Collum award a penalty and Lawrence Shankland did what he's done all season to move one closer to the magic 20 goal mark.

On the stroke of half-time it was 4-0 when Shankland delivered for Ginnelly, who deftly notched his second of the game.

Cammy Devlin's deflected strike made it five shortly after half-time. Stephen Humphrys, Alan Forrest and Jorge Grant all went close to a sixth, but Robbie Neilson's team had to settle for the joint-highest victory ever over the Dons, who had a late Marley consolation from Marley Watkins ruled out by VAR.
