Robbie Neilson insists Hearts’ 5-0 demolition of Aberdeen means NOTHING in comparison to a Scottish Cup Edinburgh derby this weekend.

The points moved Hearts nine clear of Aberdeen in third, with Livingston seven points off the pace in fourth.

But Neilson isn't even thinking about back-to-back third place finishes with Hibs on the horizon.

Lee Johnson’s team were on the end of a comprehensive defeat in Gorgie just two-and-a-half weeks ago. But Neilson knows heading to Leith won't be so straight forward.

But will Jim Goodwin survive such a heavy defeat, especially at the hands of a team the Dons are meant to be competing with for third place?

Fans will be angry this evening, and may calm down after they;ve slept on it, but Goodwin leaving himself very little leeway for any further goals tonight, never mind defeats in the coming weeks.

The Dons can only have hoped Hearts’ hunger would relent as the auction resumed. They did not get their wish.

They survived another scare when Shankland flicked a close-range effort off the post just moments into the second period.

But there was no reprieve on 62 minutes as Devlin drove in from the right and sent a low drive past Lewis with a helpful knick of Scales’ toe.

It was almost six as substitutes Jorge Grant and Stephen Humphrys almost made an immediate impact after coming on, with the the former’s teasing ball just evading the latter at the back post.

Humphrys comes sliding in at the back post but just can't make contact from close range, when a goal was certain if he'd managed even the slightest of touches.

McKay clips a ball down the line for Ginnelly and in a role reversal of the fourth goal, he delivers to the near post for Shankland.

It hits the captain's chest and comes back off the upright.

Could be a long 45 minutes for Aberdeen. Hearts will want more goals but more importantly, avoid any injuries.

4-0 Hearts and game over barring an asbolute miracle for Aberdeen.

The Dons sinking without trace here against a Hearts side that haven't even been at their best.

The Macedonian is about to pull the trigger, but Toby Sibbick makes a brilliant last-ditch tackle to froce a corner when it looked like the Dons were about to grab themselves a lifeliine.

Toby Sibbick hits a brilliant cross-feidl pass to pick out Michael Smith's run.

His first touch is just as good, and the full back produces an outstanding left-foot finish past Lewis into the far corner.

James Hill sends a long throw into the box that's flicked on.

It seems to hit Graeme Shinnie in the six yard box, and Josh Ginnelly is the first to react, forcing it home from close range to put the hosts in front.

It's Hearts' turn to force a corner, which is headed out as far as Alex Cochrane.

He doesn;t connect properly with his strike and it;s half cleared again.

Lawrence Shankland tries to hook a volley towards the top corner, but there's too mich height on it and Joe Lewis is able to wave it over the bar.

Robbie Neilson is buzzing to be back at Tynecastle for a night time kick-off.

But he has to do without Andy Halliday tonight, and explained why the versatile midfielder was missing.

He told BBC Scotland:

Andy got concussion during the game on Friday and because of the protocols and the time you have to spend out, he's going to miss tonight's game.
