Harshita Brella: International manhunt under way for husband after woman's body found in car boot
Authorities are conducting a global search for the husband of a woman who was killed, with her remains discovered in the trunk of a vehicle.
On Thursday, Harshita Brella's body was discovered in east London, located several miles from her residence in Corby.
On Sunday, Northamptonshire Police announced that they are searching for Pankaj Lamba, as they suspect he has departed the country.
Sky News reports that she was receiving protection through a court order meant for individuals affected by domestic violence.
"According to chief inspector Paul Cash, our investigations suggest that Harshita was killed earlier this month in Northamptonshire by her spouse, Pankaj Lamba."
"We believe that Lamba drove Harshita's body from Northamptonshire to Ilford."
"Urgent" inquiries were initiated after the police were reached out to on Wednesday by an individual worried about Ms. Brella's safety. Following her failure to respond at her residence on Skegness Walk, Corby, authorities began a missing person investigation.
Her body was discovered in the trunk of a car on Brisbane Road in Ilford during the early hours of Thursday.
An autopsy carried out at Leicester Royal Infirmary on Friday confirmed that she had been killed.
Over 60 investigators are actively involved in the case, exploring various leads such as visiting homes and searching properties. They are also reviewing surveillance footage and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) data.
"Chief Inspector Cash stated, 'We are still seeking any details that could assist us in understanding the events that unfolded as we strive to achieve justice for Harshita.'"
