Man Utd target Harry Kane to make transfer plea to Tottenham
Harry Kane is ready to ask Tottenham to consider transfer offers for him this summer amid rumours Manchester United are preparing a club-record bid worth in excess of £90million.
The 27-year-old is both the leading goalscorer and assister in the Premier League this season, involved in 34 goals in just 32 games, but Spurs have struggled despite their firepower up top.
Defeat away to Leeds United on Saturday means the north Londoners’ slim hopes of finishing in the top four have almost completely evaporated, with the side sat in seventh place.
Champions League football was considered a minimum requirement to ensure Kane stayed at Spurs, particularly with both Manchester City and United keen to try and prise him away.
Now The Sun report that Kane is seriously considering his future and will ask chairman Daniel Levy to entertain any reasonable offers Spurs receive this summer.
The striker will not go as far as to hand in a transfer request, however, and hopes appealing to Levy will invite big-money offers from the likes of City and United.More: Manchester United FC
The Red Devils are believed to be ready to offer £90m for Kane, which would represent transfer records for both clubs, but that fee would be far below Spurs’ valuation.
Levy values Kane at closer to £175m – not shy of the world-record fee PSG paid for Neymar pre-pandemic – but that will be virtually impossible for any club to afford in the current economic climate.
Although Kane hopes his plea might soften Levy’s stance, Spurs are under no obligation to sell given he is contracted to the club until 2024.
To keep their star man happy, Tottenham will need to show some intent in the transfer market themselves this summer and hire a high-profile manager – but so far their hunt for a new head coach is not going well, having lost out on Julian Nagelsmann to Bayern Munich.
For his part, Kane is desperate to win silverware having failed to win any trophies with Spurs – most recently losing the Carabao Cup final – and is open to a move to Manchester.
