Hamzah Sheeraz defends titles with demolition of Liam Williams, Frank Warren challenges Chris Eubank Jr to fight next - Eurosport

Hamzah Sheeraz

Hamzah Sheeraz put on an impressive show and achieved a victory in the first round against Liam Williams at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday evening.

Williams has faced some skilled opponents in his career as a boxer. He did not come out victorious in his matches against Liam Smith, losing both fights, nor against Chris Eubank Jr. Additionally, he lost his only world title bout to Demtrius Andrade.

Sheeraz has not lost any of his 18 fights so far. He won the WBC Silver title by defeating Dmytro Mytrofanov through a stoppage in August last year while in Warsaw.

As the fight approached, Williams was certain that Sheeraz's team had been underestimating him.

The weight class in the middle range is ready for a new contender to emerge since many of the well-known fighters have either moved up to a heavier weight class or are already in their thirties. It seemed like the fight would be over quickly when Williams got knocked down within the first minute.

Williams went to his corner and was given the opportunity to continue fighting, but then Sheeraz struck with a series of punches that left his opponent defenseless, resulting in Williams being pushed against the ropes and eventually falling to the ground. The referee counted to eight before Williams could get back on his feet.

The 31-year-old boxer had almost completed his first round, but there were only 23 seconds left. He was moving away from his opponent's attacks, who happened to be younger, and this made his corner throw in the towel unexpectedly. The boxer seemed shocked by this decision.

At 24 years of age, Sheeraz felt a sense of pride in his performance and confidently expressed his readiness to face any middleweight challenger.

Before the fight, many people didn't believe in me, which is common in this sport. But I show what I'm capable of inside the ring. This is where I truly showcase my skills and abilities. I'm not a trash talker, I prefer to let my performance do the talking for me. I believe in entertaining the audience when I fight.

"Bring on any person weighing 160 pounds. I am confident that I can defeat them."

Frank Warren congratulated Sheeraz in a corner and mentioned that he will think of ways to progress his career. Sheeraz shared with TNT Sports that he believes he will become a world champion one day.

"He's like Tommy Hearns, his jab is definitely the strongest. He doesn't use it to test you, but rather to knock your head off," he started saying.

This guy is a complete and utter professional. I truly think that he is about to shine like a superstar. My gut says that he will become a world champion and hold onto that title for as long as he desires.

There is no better promotion for boxing than him. He is an incredible celebrity. He embodies contemporary UK and he does it amazingly.

In regards to the future, Warren spoke about Chris Eubank Jr and expressed that if Eubank is willing to take on the challenge, it would take a lot of courage since he would need substantial bravery to step into the ring with him.

Nobody can get away with treating Liam Williams unfairly. He displayed an outstanding performance right from the first punch and handled the situation brilliantly.
