Gregg Wallace addresses ‘sexual comments’ allegations after BBC probe

Gregg Wallace

Gregg Wallace has refuted claims that he made any "sexual" comments during his appearance on a BBC program over five years ago.

The 59-year-old MasterChef UK judge addressed claims about an incident that allegedly took place in 2018 during his time on the show Impossible Celebrities, which was looked into by the BBC.

According to a report by the Sun newspaper, the BBC's assessment determined that he could remain employed at the organization.

In an Instagram update after the front-page article was published on Monday, Wallace mentioned: "The news making headlines today was thoroughly looked into by the BBC right after it occurred six years ago."

"The result of that was that I didn't make any sexual comments. I want to emphasize this clearly: I did not say anything of a sexual nature."

He used to host Inside The Factory but announced last year that he would be stepping back to care for his son Sid, who is autistic and non-verbal. He shares Sid with his wife, Anne-Marie Sterpini.

In a different video, the ex-grocer stated, "Contrary to what the newspapers are implying, no one accused me of flirting or making advances towards anyone six years ago."

I mention this because of my wife, Anna. Throughout the 12 years since I fell in love with her, I've been completely faithful and have never shown interest in anyone else.

"It's crucial to clarify that I am completely loyal to my wife, to avoid any potential misunderstandings."

A representative from the BBC stated, "Although we don't discuss specific individuals, we address any concerns that are brought up promptly and in the right manner."

"We have zero tolerance for any kind of unacceptable behavior and have strong systems set up to address it."

Wallace is the parent of two kids, Tom and Libby, from a previous relationship.

He collaborated with Ms. Sterpini to write Gregg's Italian Family Cookbook.

The original host of Saturday Kitchen has appeared on several BBC programs, such as Eat Well For Less, Supermarket Secrets, Celebrity MasterChef, and MasterChef: The Professionals. Additionally, he participated in Strictly Come Dancing in 2014.
