Great North Run test for March athletes

In March, the Athletics Club had many runners taking part in races all over the country. Three of their athletes joined in The Great North Run.

James Arran completed the Half Marathon in 1 hour, 50 minutes, and 43 seconds. He had a great time running and loved the energetic vibe of the event.

Stephen Ryan finished the race in 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 0 seconds to achieve a finish time under two hours.

Roma O'Neil completed the race in 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 16 seconds, raising funds for a charity that helps the British Heart Foundation.

In another location, the March Athletics Club participated in the Sawtry 10 mile race and earned the benefits of their dedication to training.

Andrew Jakeman was the initial runner for the team and crossed the finish line in third place with an impressive time of 55 minutes and 25 seconds.

Kanina O'Neil made history as the first woman to cross the finish line with a time of 01:06:38. Andy Cole and Michael Stacey also performed well, each winning their respective age groups.

Mike Blackledge participated in the Bedford 20 mile race and completed it in 3 hours, 2 minutes, and 9 seconds, showcasing his continued strong performance.

Final standings: Andrew Jakeman finished in 55 minutes and 25 seconds, Andy Cole came in second with a time of 1 hour, 5 minutes, and 12 seconds, Kanina O'Neil finished in 1 hour, 6 minutes, and 38 seconds, Michael Stacey finished in 1 hour, 12 minutes, and 53 seconds, Barry Head crossed the finish line in 1 hour, 15 minutes, and 12 seconds, Tricia Cole completed the race in 1 hour, 27 minutes, and 19 seconds, Samantha Hodson finished in 1 hour, 28 minutes, and 31 seconds, and Dawn Veal finished in 1 hour, 43 minutes, and 39 seconds.
