Grace Dent's Top Picks And Favorites
In this section, she talks about her fondness for enjoying cereal during the late hours, reminiscing about classic TV shows, and slipping into luxurious pajamas that have just come out of the warmth of the radiator.
A few years back, I decided to give pottery a try, thinking my artistic side would make it easy for me. However, I have a knack for creating tiny tapas pots with holes in them – I really struggle to remove the clay from the wheel! I guess I need to come to terms with the fact that I won’t be launching a Grace Dent ceramics line at Habitat anytime soon...
My favorite time is when it's 7pm on a Friday on BBC Four, because that's when they air classic episodes of Top Of The Pops. It really reminds me of my childhood, when I would eagerly compete for that half-hour of TV time. I also spend a lot of time on YouTube watching old sitcoms like Only When I Laugh and Porridge—shows I enjoyed watching with my dad.
I often find myself in stylish outfits, snug undergarments, and high heels for my job, so when I'm at home, I really enjoy wearing my Eberjey pajamas. Before heading out, I like to toss them on the radiator so they’re nice and warm when I return!

My partner Charlie is a fan of buying boxes of Kellogg's Krave cereal, but I have to warn him not to bring it home. Otherwise, I’ll find myself raiding the kitchen cupboard at 3am, munching on it mindlessly. It's almost like I’m sleep-eating!
I have three cats: Missy, Gino, and Shrimp. There's also a cat I’ve kind of taken in named Marmalade. While she has her own owners, I often find her hanging out at my place! The cats sometimes argue, but in the mornings, Shrimp and Marmalade greet each other with a nose touch as a way of making peace. After that, they run around the garden like crazy.
I've been in my home for two decades, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I really took on the challenge of my garden. I decided to plant a cherry tree, and I must say, I adore it even more than some of my relatives! Just the other day, I noticed it sprouting new leaves, and I was so thrilled that I couldn't help but send some pictures to Charlie.
As a child in northern England, my family frequently visited Gatehouse of Fleet, Stranraer, Creetown, and Kirkcudbright in southwestern Scotland for our vacations. These destinations aren’t overly commercialized; instead, they feature vast, breezy beaches, tidal pools, and charming cafes where you can grab a pasty wrapped in paper. These locations will forever be treasured for the memories I have of my mum, dad, gran, and grandad.
Every day, I tune into a historical podcast because I have a fascination with royalty and life at court. Charlie Higson's podcast, "Willy Willy Harry Stee," serves as an excellent guide to the monarchy and is simply fantastic. I took history classes in high school, but didn't focus on it much afterward, so now I'm revisiting the subject to fill in the gaps in what I know.
