Glastonbury tickets go on sale today – here are the best tactics to get them
Perhaps you didn’t attend this year and have heard everyone rave about how amazing it was, especially how Coldplay truly delivered an incredible show, even if you’re not a fan of their music. Or maybe you were there and are looking for ways to keep your spirits up during the winter months. Regardless of your situation, today is your first chance to grab Glastonbury tickets. Here are some tips to boost your chances of securing a spot, whether it’s for this year or the next.
Get Ready To Catch The Coach!
Many people wouldn't even think about attending Glastonbury without a car, believing they need a huge tent (which is not necessary), several outfits for each day (which is questionable), and enough boxed wine to fill a tub (a point can definitely be argued). However, if you're open to taking a coach to the festival – which also helps lower your carbon footprint – you get another shot at securing tickets. The sale of coach tickets starts at 6 PM GMT on 14 November, while regular tickets will be available at 9 AM GMT on 17 November. Plus, an important benefit is that you won’t have to drive home while experiencing a major post-festival low (thanks to the atmosphere, of course). With coaches available from 28 different towns and cities, taking one is definitely worth considering, even if it means bringing fewer costume pieces.
Set Up Your Computer Correctly
This year, the ticket sales process involves randomly assigning individuals a spot in the queue as soon as they access the ticket page. If you’re not already on the page when tickets become available, your chances of securing a ticket are virtually zero. Therefore, organizers recommend being on the page "at least several minutes before the sale begins."
Avoid Opening Multiple Browser Tabs
Glastonbury is tightening measures against those trying to exploit the system: “If you use several devices or open multiple tabs at the same time to reach the website, you risk having your IP address blocked.”
You can still use your phone's data while using your laptop, as each device will have its own IP address. Just remember to open only one browser tab.
Every individual who makes it to the front of the line can purchase up to six tickets. If you haven't already, consider teaming up with five other registered individuals, each logging in from different internet connections. This way, at least one of you might be able to grab tickets for everyone else. Experienced Glastonbury attendees often organize these groups in a kind of cascading method, where each fortunate ticket buyer passes on the tickets to those they've chosen, sometimes leaving any extra tickets for others in the group. This is particularly useful if you have someone who is great at handling spreadsheets. This year, there's an exciting feature: a progress bar that shows how close you are to getting to the front of the line, which should help determine who among your group is most likely to succeed.
Collect Information In Advance
You’ll have just 10 minutes to grab your tickets before you're unceremoniously removed from the line, much like a weary security guard dealing with a busy weekend shift. Be prepared with the ticket registration numbers and postcodes for everyone you're purchasing tickets for. Don’t forget to have sufficient funds in your account to pay a £75 deposit for each ticket, as well as the cost of the coach fare if you're getting a coach ticket. The total cost of the ticket is £373.50, plus a £5 booking fee.
Avoid refreshing the page or leaving it due to annoyance or distraction. Take a moment to breathe deeply.

In the end, your position in the queue is largely a matter of chance, so it could be worth a shot.
