Tom Brady posted a mysterious message on social media shortly after news broke that his former wife, Gisele Bündchen, is expecting a baby.
The 44-year-old Brazilian supermodel is looking forward to welcoming her first baby with her partner, Joaquim Valente.
On Monday, October 28, a source shared with People that the couple, together since June 2023, is excited about this new phase in their lives. They are eager to foster a harmonious and loving atmosphere for everyone in the family.
On the same day, the former NFL star posted a calm picture of a sunset on his Instagram Story, accompanied by The Chicks' version of Fleetwood Mac's famous track "Landslide." He added three red heart emojis to the post, while the song's poignant lyrics by Stevie Nicks were shown on the image.
"Oh mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I navigate through the shifting tides of the ocean?" the lyrics say.
Though the ex-quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't provide any details regarding his mysterious post, it quickly became apparent that many online suspected it was in reaction to Bündchen's announcement about her pregnancy.
"One user commented on X/Twitter, sharing a screenshot of Tom Brady’s post, 'It's quite something that Tom Brady shared The Chicks' rendition of ‘Landslide’ right after the news came out about Gisele Bündchen expecting a baby with her attractive jiu-jitsu coach boyfriend.'"
"Seeing Tom Brady share a post about The Chicks isn’t something I anticipated for my 2024 bingo card," another user commented.
A third person playfully remarked, “Honestly, that could totally describe me.”
Brady and Bündchen completed their divorce in October 2022 after being married for 13 years. The pair, who have two children together, reached the conclusion to part ways "after careful thought."
"Going through this is undeniably tough and challenging, just like it is for many others facing similar situations around the globe," Brady expressed in a statement on social media at that time. "Nonetheless, we genuinely wish each other well as we embark on the next chapters of our lives that are yet to unfold."
In her statement, the Victoria's Secret model admitted that deciding to end a marriage is always challenging. However, she noted that she and Brady have just naturally drifted apart over time.
"Although it's certainly challenging to experience something like this, I am grateful for the moments we shared and sincerely wish Tom nothing but the best," she expressed. She also mentioned that they will keep working together as co-parents to ensure their children receive the love, support, and attention they truly need.
There were rumors that the former New England Patriots star and the model were on the path to divorce after Brady decided to return to the NFL in March 2022, just a month after he had announced his retirement. Bündchen hinted that her husband's career might have played a role in their relationship problems when she mentioned in an interview with Elle that she feels she has already done her share in supporting her husband and their family.
"I’ve fulfilled my role by being present for Tom. I relocated to Boston and dedicated myself to creating a nurturing space for my kids to thrive, while also supporting him and his aspirations," she shared in a cover piece from September 2022. "Watching my children flourish and develop into wonderful individuals, along with seeing him achieve success and find satisfaction in his career – it brings me joy."
“At this stage of my life, I believe I’ve accomplished that well,” Bündchen said. “Now it’s time for me to focus on myself. I won’t be stuck in this low point forever.”
Bündchen's upcoming baby will be a first for her partner Valente, but she and Brady are already the proud parents of two children: their 14-year-old son, Benjamin, and 11-year-old daughter, Vivian. Following their separation, Bündchen and Brady decided to co-parent their kids. Besides Benjamin and Vivian, Brady also has a 17-year-old son named Jack with his former partner, Bridget Moynahan.
