Girls Aloud to reunite for tour in memory of late Sarah Harding
In honor of their former bandmate, Sarah Harding who has passed away, Girls Aloud will come together once again for an arena tour in 2024.
On Wednesday, Nadine Coyle, Cheryl, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh revealed an announcement via social media. They uploaded a video to share that the Girls Aloud Show arena tour will take place in May and June of 2024. The show is a tribute to Sarah and will celebrate their music, as well as their remarkable fans. The girls are pumped to sing and dance with their fans once more.
In 2021, breast cancer unfortunately took the life of Harding, who was a former member of the band and achieved 21 UK Top 10 singles during her time with the group.
During an interview with the BBC, Cheryl expressed that she has not been comfortable doing anything without her partner, until recently. However, Cheryl now feels emotionally empowered to move forward.
Walsh said: "To us, it will seem as though she is present. She truly came alive while performing on stage. It was during those moments that she experienced her greatest joy. Grief brings about a change where we are now prepared to honor and commemorate the individual."
The music group has refuted rumors suggesting that they created a fresh album and shot a music clip.
They came together in the year 2002 through a TV show called Popstars: The Rivals aired on ITV. Their initial track, known as the Sound of the Underground, became a massive hit, reaching the pinnacle of the UK charts, securing their place with a total of four No 1s in the UK.
The Popstars formula produced two bands: a boy group named One True Voice and a girl group who competed with each other to earn the title of Christmas No. 1 in that year. Girls Aloud then went on to become the most successful girl group in the UK in the 21st century. Their impressive achievement includes four out of their five studio albums making it to the Top 10 charts.
Famous admirers included Bono, Ken Livingstone, the past city mayor of London, and the past head of government David Cameron.
Their song called The Promise was a very successful hit and won the award for best single at the Brit Awards in 2009. When receiving the award, Harding expressed to the crowd that it was long overdue.
In the same year, the band called Girls Aloud decided to take a break from performing together in order to focus on their individual projects. They also released a record named Ten, which featured their most well-known tracks, in 2012. Following the conclusion of their tour, which took place in Liverpool, the group disclosed in 2013 that they had disbanded.
